.US registrations are experiencing, by far, the highest growth rate of all exts, so I would say *generally* that .us is presently the hot ticket. However, unless I was regging 10,000+ names, *generally* doesn't cut it. Unless it's .com ,(and .net or .org to a lesser degree), the preferred tld depends upon the term, and I see this as a trend that will continue to dilineate how tld's are used and what constitutes the better name. How names are matched to tld's and their relative values, are going to increasingly correspond to the original intent and projected use of the tld, IMHO.

I am always seeing instances where .biz is more appropriate and a better fit to a term than .us or even .info and, consequently, the biz is regged and .us and info remain available. Actually, I see more instances where .biz is regged and .us is still avail, than i do the reverse, but, perhaps, this is simply because.biz has been around longer. I also have seen several instances, w/ business related names, where the .biz and .us name are both regged, but the .info is still available, which should be the case.

True, the beginning of the Internet has ended. A new generation of net savvy users won't give a hoot about whether its a dotcom, just so long as the content is there, and the name helps remind them of what content that was.

Yes that new generation will be a mighty force to recon with, they are the ones who make changes , they are the ones on the front line with there supple minds in college the new creators of our world , sometimes the old big dogs get stuck in their habitual world but there will be a day when things change maybe slowly maybe not, regeneration is a key for the future and its just a matter of time before before new company take on new names and make them popular,
Remember Am radio it was the hotest and coolest way back when.....
then well Fm mad its daybueeeeee than its history
What if we always stayed in tune to the Am station
never explored new radio waves get it ... it will happen

this new generation doesnt feed like parasite off of old ideas and other peoples dream {they wont spend hour and days fretting and conspiring to take on the big dogs} they make their own names popular and have truth about them, they wont settle for anything less, i hope this generation will bring fresh honest creativity into this domain world with an excitment to stir even mightyest money making hardened hearts,

ahhh to be young again with thoughts of friends and having fun when the world is at your call , do you think this generation will want to follow this dot com age??? that they grew up with or will they be excited by the opportunities and windows that are still open??? u decide

It's funny how recent all this was. The first really popular .biz names (held up by the lottery fiasco) were released only in March of 2002.

Here's the date of one of my pre-regged LR domains.

Domain Registration Date : Wed Mar 27 00:01:00 GMT+00:00 2002

Just 2 short years, and today anybody registering a domain name at a registrar gets the option of coffee, tea or .BIZ?

It never ceases to amaze me how fast the Internet has progressed and reshaped in very short periods of time.

.biz for a worldwide market, and .us for the USA. Makes perfect sense to me when these TLDs are developed this way.

But .... For Me - The .us wins overall due to the fact US/English Traffic Market seems to be the highest paying ~

Really important depending on the name in front of it. I some how favor .us over .biz

but you dont want, Chinesetea.us or amercia.biz

I don't agree with the .biz part. The whole basis of using a slang English word as an extension was a terrible idea to begin with!

#1 - Not everyone worldwide speaks English. That's not limited to .biz, but it does limit "worldwide" appeal.

#2 - Using a slang abbreviation for business really hurts the extension all around, no matter what the domain is... That's why .info makes sense and .com makes sense and partyly why both are more popular extensions.

In specific cases, .biz clashes directly with .com, which is what gets .COM old school advocates all hot and bothered.

eg. sendmail.com / sendmail.info / sendmail.biz

In its purest relative expression vs a vs the .COM extension, .BIZ would stand for the ultimate in a b2b proposition while the former being more of a catchall, imho. Generalist vs specialist. Commerce (colonial expression) vs Business (modern day expression) vs Biz (embedded new economy abbreviation of the term business)

Maybe we should look at which of the two extensions has successful developed sites... .us or .biz?

Yea but what would you have chosen for business?

.bus?

Like it or not, in the English language, there is no other abbreviatin for business. There is no other abbreviation for business that is used. There is no other abbreviation that works better.

I personally like biz, because it is phonetic and it alludes to the new. Additionally, "z" ending to words have been popularized by, and are peculiar to, the internet.

biz is the perfect extention. I like it more that .com or .info for a business

I think some may feel this preference call is purely subjective - totally forgeting that .BIZ is actually a restricted TLD bearing specific usage clauses. There was a time when resellers were worried about listing .BIZ names for sale. This fear has reduced significantly, but the guidelines still hold.

I don't think .bus works for business. Looks like an extension meant for public transportation! Though I am not nuts about the way .biz looks and sounds, there can be no mistake about what it means.
