I realize this may be before its time, or maybe it will never be worth much. But I have noticed that many cryptocurrencies (Yep, *rolls eyes*) have been adopting the .cash gtld lately...

Crypto aside though, if .cash ever does pick up steam, I figured that US.cash ought to be worth a bit someday.

Anyway, I got US.cash for dirt cheap and figured I would sit on it for a while.

Any opinions on current or future value?

Thanks!

According to domains listed on coinmarketcap...

zCash = Z.cash

hShare = H.cash

Aeon = Aeon.cash

FlorinCoin = Flo.cash

BlitzCash = Blitz.cash

GeoCoin = GeoCoin.cash | Geo.money

Its unfortunate the renewal is so much, but the name is so short with the two halves working so well (either as United States or us) that I would keep it if you can afford it.

At least the reported .cash sales so far are not encouraging, though. On DPric.es they show 9, but the largest is just $200
http://dnpric.es/?q=.cash

Namebio is more encouraging, even though just 3 sales, with one at $8400!

I presume you have done this, but I checked your domain in GoDaddy GoValue and it gave $1730 as estimated worth (today at least, they seem to vary day to day). It also shows a number of us domain sales at great prices. e.g. us.asia sold for $1500 according to GoValue, and that is nowhere near as good as us.cash imho.

So I would keep it, but be energetic in trying to sell it so you don't have to renew it too often!

Good luck with it,

Bob

If I hold onto it for several years and develop it, and it becomes worth several thousand dollars...Then isn't it worth it to pay 140 a year? Am I missing something here? I look at it as a long term investment, not a short term profit.
Thanks!
Well I suppose you won't develop the site and at the time of renewal you'll think about keeping/leaving it based on the then market scenario (common story of a domaineer). Coming to the domain name now. Domain is short and US name has obvious charm but .cash is a deterrent. Who will be the end user of this domain? Any USD exchange setup or something similar? I fear any such establishment will go for stronger TLDs like com/net instead of getting lured by .cash. My suggestion is - try to sell it to a reseller when market is optimum. Don't waste your time in looking for end users, for this you'll have to work really hard including establishing website on this domain and appraising its value. I can't see significant profit in terms of efforts invested by you.

Any domain can be developed. The same result could be achieved with another domain name. Then you could use a cheaper alternative.
If a domain name has to be developed to become valuable, then it has no built-in value.

The only certainty is that you will pay $140/year, which is expensive for a lottery ticket.

Thats' an intriguing and impressive domain and, unless you are risk adverse, certainly worth a few years of renewals.

That of course, coupled with a competent bit of name campaigning, should likely yield a respectable ROI.

Nice acquisition!

It can imo sell anywhere between 2k-14k during next few years, for what exactly it depends on your ability to say NO for couple of low offers and your patience. Probabilities are not bad but not great either- I would guesstimate it as 1% to sell it in that price range at any given year.

Saying that, I feel it is somewhere at borderline as an investment, personally I would not go for it - the reason is that 140 renewal. If you think above sell price range is reasonable, and take above probabilty into consideration as well, you can calculate it yourself whether it is worth it, or not :)

When I make any investment in new gTLDs, I ask myself - is the name good enough for me so I am happy to hold it for next 10 years, and pay 10x the renewal during that time? Quality of the name PLUS renewal fee are 2 most important factors in this decision making process.

I see that CASH.us sold in 2016 for $20,100...

That has got to bode well for US.cash I would think.

Thanks for all the great feedback, everyone! Very helpful. Cheers

If I'm in the US and looking for the cash keyword, I'd go straight to the cash.us domain. Easier to remember for the average person.

Any new opinions on this domain?

Anything from a low $xxx to a $xxxx is my guess.

Good name, but โ€œuscash.org/.tv/.us is still available, which might indicate something. I also find the renewal fee a little high.

Best of luck!

you should take 250-350 for it and move on, let someone else hold on to it til its 25000. :)
