Hello all!!!
I have recently sold something for a great amount of money... the money has been transferred into my paypal account, but now i am wanting to know if there is any way that the person could take the money back after i hand the thing ive sold over to them?

Also, i would like to check his email address for feedback verification thing, but ive searched everywhere for this link and cannot find it, does anyone know?

I need to finish this transaction of asap, so any info on this is appreciated.
THANKYOU!

um ok. Just remember that if he sent the payment already, he cant get it back unless you give him a refund via option in the payment info.

Glad it worked out.

Well that isnt 100% true, I never gave my buyer a refund yet the money was taken back... like 60 days later for a bogus CC or something like that.

Actually, they can claim that you never sent the item, and paypal will take the money back. And 99.9% of the time, paypal will side with the buyer, meaning that you will most likely lose the case as a seller.

I had that problem, I used to sell a lot of software items on eBay, then about 1/10 people would claim with people that I never sent the item, and paypal would give them a refund out my Paypal account which is bloody stupid.

Thats pathetic... well could they use a PM that i sent from sitepoint's forums as evidence i did give him the details? Even if he deleted it, it would still be in my 'sent' folder.

If you ever get any problems, CALL paypal, don't email them. That should get it sorted.

Accepting payment by PayPal is always risky. Like it has been mentioned, the buyer can dispute the transaction later and you'll be left holding the bag unless you can prove you shipped a physical item to the buyer. Or the PayPal account could be stolen.

That's why it's so important you deal with trustworthy people. Always do your research.

Thanks for the info guys, so say that i have sent him a PM containing all the correct means to transfer the site (password, domain, username etc etc)... If i gave paypal permsiion to view my sent messages, would that be proof enough for them to let me keep my money?

Thanks!

In a just world, it would be. But paypal probably won't be bothered to look at your "evidence". the only evidence I know they accept is proof of physical delivery, like a UPS or Fedex acknowledgement of receipt.

:'(... that's terrible.
I would have to ring them up, give them my user and password, and hope that they believe me then... usually people act a little diferently when you ring them instead of just emailing as Colin Behr suggested :).

Well i certainly hope this goes through, as i have kindof spent the money already LOL...

How does that happen?! I didn't know PayPal could take money from my credit card or bank account without my specific instructions!! Where's that fine print??

The one thing I worry about with PayPal is them freezing an account because too much money goes into it. I've heard this happen to several people!

I don't exactly know how all these paypal transactions go about since I've never experienced firsthand. But, it seems like the seller is awfully disadvantaged right from the start.

When conducting online business (such as selling a website, web design, etc.) and accepting a payment via PayPal, ALWAYS send an invoice for the payment and in the payment description you need to clearly explain that this payment is for a virtual, non-tangible item or service.

PayPal does not allow refund claims for virtual items which weren't physically shipped. By putting a description on the payment like that, you can refer to it if the person ever tries to say something like "the item was never shipped". This technique has saved me before because there are a lot of unhonest people out there :(

That is VERY good advice, I will bear that in mind for the future.
