I noticed the .com version of my domain sold at T.R.A.F.F.I.C East last year for XX,XXX. I own the .org version. Would it be wise to put the domain in the upcoming Vegas T.R.A.F.F.I.C? Do you think some of the same bidders for the .com would be interested in the .org? Mind you I am very new to the domain business.

This is a very good question. I would like to hear from some of the senior members here. In the past I have listed domains with .com and .net offered together, figuring that added value to the overall auction package. I would like to hear from some of the old-timers here on whether it is better to split a domain pair (com, net) (com, org) and sell them separately, or sell them together com+net in an auction.

Like I said, I normally just put them together in an auction, since it makes the whole package strong, and a buyer can buy that strength.

There is the slight possibility of that happening, but IMO, .com and .org don't do quite as well together as .com and .net.

No harm in putting it in the auction though...

Sashas,
If you had a domain and had the .com and .net extensions, would you offer them both at the same time in a package? Would you split the package and offer them separately at the same auction as two line items? Would you sell the .com and stash the .net away for a year or two?

Thanks,
Marc

Frankly, this is a tricky situation which can go either way. You might end up getting much more for the package than you would get for the two names separately, or you might end up losing with the opposite happening. But if I found myself in a situation like this, I would put the .com and the .net together, and try and persuade the seller to buy them at a higher than expected price (brand protection, more traffic, blah blah). As I mentioned in another thread, I don't believe that .net prices are going up as fast as they should. While two years wait might turn out to be worth it, it can also be that I might not get the same price that I was offered as a package.

Flip a coin, I'd say :imho:
