Unsolicited Escrow Transaction

I just receive an email from Escrow (Escrow.com Transactions - [email protected]) regarding an offer by a buyer of one of my domains:

"A Buyer (Anonymous), has selected Escrow.com Payment Services to handle a secure online transaction with you."

I've never been contact by the buyer. The amount of the transaction is the same as the amount that the domain is for sale at Afternic

Is this normal?

Nope. You normally talk to the buyer first and agree to an escrow transaction and who would pay the escrow fees. I'd be leary of such a transaction and wait for the buyer to contact you. It may be you are pricing the domain too cheaply.

This is weird. I opened an account with Escrow.com to check the details of the offer and it appeared as I have accepted the offer (which I didn't). Besides the fee is 10% (I thought it was supposed to be lower), which I have to pay. I've contact Escrow.com to see what is the problem.

By the way, it's a two keyword domain and is priced at low X,XXX, which I believe is a fair price.

Never mind. The domain was sold at Godaddy Auctions, although I haven't received yet an email from them. I just happened to check my Godaddy account and I saw that the domain was sold. That explains the 10% fee.

I don't know why they haven't sent me an email. It's over 5 hours after the domain was bought and still nothing.

It's always good when a potential "scam warning" ends up just being a nice completed sale!
