Hi all,

I saw this one in a dropped list and just for fun I did a search on it in Google. To my surprise Google pulled up some 166.000 search results for it. Because of that I regged it.

It seems Zmiy means Dragon (Answers and Wikipedia confirms this), not sure if its Dragon in Russian. Any Russian speakers here who can confirm this and help me out? Also, anyone with better knowledge about value, or what I should develop it into? Any thoughts or comments?

The domain name is zmiy.com

Thank you!

I think dictionary words in non-English languages are promising. As more and more people come online in the developing world, these domains will become more attractive and will attract more attention. I don't think your domain is Russian, however. Ukrainian, maybe.

You'd have trouble developing it into a website, I think, if you don't speak the language. Find out what language it is, and find out just what people are searching for on Google. Park the domain and optimize it well. If you want to develop a website, again, find out what people are looking for, get some native speaker to write some relevant content, and develop a small website with Adsense. See what happens.

Eventually you may be able to sell it for a good profit.

If it's a dictionary word in another language & it means "dragon" then you're sitting on a winner here

My system says:

zmiy $1 052

I think this was definitely a good reg. It's not a bad 4-letter .com. Of course as with all LLLL.coms it may be a while before an interested buyer comes along...

"In Russian, Belarusian, and Ukrainian lore, a dragon, or zmey (Russian), smok (Belarussian) zmiy (Ukrainian), is generally an evil, four-legged beast with few if any redeeming qualities. Zmeys are intelligent, but not very highly so; they often place tribute on villages or small towns, demanding maidens for food, or gold. Their number of heads ranges from one to seven or sometimes even more, with three- and seven-headed dragons being most common. The heads also regrow if cut off, unless the neck is "treated" with fire (similar to the hydra in Greek mythology). Dragon blood is so poisonous that Earth itself will refuse to absorb it."

zmiy (Ukrainian) - it means dragon in ukrainian

I'am Russian.
I can tell you that "zmiy" is old for "zmey" which means "dragon" or "snake".

Nevertheless in contemporary Russian there is an expression "zeleniy zmiy" which can be translated as "green dragon" and this expression means "vodka", "alcohol" (pictural phrase).

That's an idea for you)

Yes... JFS is right in Ukrainian is zmij ... in Romanian zmeu.
Anyway I think that the idea of "trend" is a very good starting point.

For some reason I keep pronouncing it zimy, it's really hard for me to think of zm next to each other.... then again, I'm not Russian.
