Unique Content + Article Dir = No more Unique?

When I write an article for a website, I will often submit the content as a whole to a handful of article directories. Is this bad? Does this make the content on my site no longer unique?

The reason for using articles is to get backlinks, and I don't think you should submit the articles from your site. When a person finds an article in the directory, he gets interested, goes to your site and what? Sees there the same stuff he's just read?

I wouldn't submit the articles from your website, your just asking for loads of duplicate content issues.

You could always write an article, submit it to article directories and link back to your homepage.

I have article site of my own.
So if I copy articles from other site I will get PR?
