SEO stands for search engine optimization. It has evolved from tiny tweaks to a full fledged industry leaded by world class Internet pioneers who has dedicated their time and resources studying and testing the limits of it.

If you have a site or two and want to rank better then there's no meed to hire costly seo service providers. This article is not a bundle of tips but rather it focuses on a biggest trick of them all. "Unique content".

Now the process goes some thing like this,
The search engine robot follows some link to your website starts crawling it. Takes in all the content ( text excluding HTML tags ). Most of the modern search engine robots has an algo to detect duplicate content. In some cases even it the pattern of content is some then the site is penalized. Ex: You copy this article itself and copy-paste it on your website. Same thing gets done by other 100 webmasters. Then how do you think the search engine will show your site at better positions then the other ones who also has same kind of content. Some webmasters get more smarter then this and copies their content from different places, mixes then and prepares a content cock-tail.

Still the search engines cannot be fooled so the best and the safest way to get some exposure is unique content. You might wanna try copyscape.com. Type in some nice website URL and see it yourself how many copies of that content is out there on the internet.

Here is an article which I have written in past and submitted it to the article repositories and other forums.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...omains+for+millions"&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

All copies :( Want to know what I got in return? Backlinks. That also from Supplemental results.

Write some thing relevant to your site, write any thing relevant to your site. But write it your self don't copy the content. Because copying the content from other places is the first mistake you are making in marketing your website. You don't need to be an author to write a bunch of paragraphs related to your own website. Take a paper and pen, sit some place as if giving your high-school exam. Write down what comes to your mind. Read it, edit it if necessary. I bet you will have your article ready in 30 minutes. If you don't have any idea how articles go on then read one or two yourself it will tune-up your mind and get you started.

Moral of the story is that don't copy content. But yeah I have another article coming soon after this one which proves there is nothing like duplicate content penalty. And it will blow this article high up in the sky :D So the second moral of the story is don't believe everything that is written in articles.

Most of us got into domains because we assumed it was easy to make money in this business, not. Its like you say, to make any kind of traffic the site needs to be oringinal. That is more difficult than cut and paste.

These are very good points for us to constantly be reminded of,

Thanks Nick
