undeveloped .com, developed .nets & other extensions in SERPS

I have a nice .com that is not developed & some other extensions are developed.

Ok basically I was hoping to start a discussion & get some feedback.

Most of us say .com is king

and the other extensions will normally lose traffic to the .com

Lets say that you have a hypothetical situation where you have a nice .com that you are planning on developing & the .nets & some other extensions are developed & high ranking in the SERPS.

I am working on the assumption that for SEO these extensions are equal.

Do you think that the .com can & will grow faster with equal development?
Do you think that if .net is in #1 spot & .com is in #2 that people will gravitate towards the .com?

I am trying to come up with some positives to owning the .com over the .net besides higher value & whatnot.

Basically I am trying to get motivated to develop & out rank them, & looking for positives.

Start by reading those 2 recent discussions which are similar in nature.

I am a dotnet fan and leaning toward it more and more for development domain potential. The more I develop the more I am seeing it's value as appropriate in comparison to the inflated prices of dot com.

As a reseller or parking earning you may want to own the dot com though.

If all circumstances are equal I would give the com an edge if only because it may recieve more natural traffic (1-5%).

Do you think that if .net is in #1 spot & .com is in #2 that people will gravitate towards the .com?

Nope..in general people click #1 first.
