I heard on the grapevine that there is a new CC for the United Kingdom

I cannot believe how rubbish it is!

It's 6 keystrokes for a start! Six!! Can you believe it?

You have to start with a (dot) then a (C) followed by an (O) then believe it or not another (dot) followed by a (U) and then finished off with a (K)...

(s*****r) it almost reads like ".co*k" lol....

Anyway, after spending an inordinate amount of time keying in the SIX character TLD I'd be surprised if most people hadn't forgotten what it was they went online for...

How can you market a 5 syllable extension for goodness sake!

Pronounced

Dot (1st Syllable)
co (2nd syllable)
dot (3rd syllable)
U (4th syllable)
K (5th syllable)

Why couldn't it just be .uk? or maybe .lon for London or .brit or .emp (for those who remember the 'Empire'

But dot co*k is just absurd... it'll be unpronouncable, unmemorable & unpopular let me tell you now... it is not needed, not required & not welcome..

Does anyone else know of any ridiculous domain extensions that have clearly not been thought through?

You forgot to reference the application ... the ".CO.UK", like ".MOBI", are less than ideal for, say, mobile usage, IMHO. :gl:

On the other hand, short, single syllable, and HIGHLY memorable extensions such as .COM, .NET, and coming .WEB, and .TEL would be much more "natural" for an extension that is for those that are truly "on the go"! :lala: :talk: :imho:

That's alright, if there was a dedicated .CO.UK Forum™, Gary would still post his stuffs here in the general Domain Discussions© Forum, anyway. :red: :snaphappy: :imho:

Onward and upward, and have a nice weekend! :music:

It is a good post in a way, I mean it gives food for thought to those who follow trends and hype as .CO.UK is a top extension despite not having the sofa-pundit style marketing / brandability or the like :)

Perhaps you ought to change from newdomainer.mobi to newdomainer.co.uk and see the light ;) ;)

Let's just compare the Google Trends for .mobi and .co.uk :

http://www.google.com/trends?q=.mobi,+.co.uk

The hard facts show that the "absurd, unpronouncable, unmemorable and unpopular" .co.uk is actually thriving and extremely successful, while the oh so wonderful .mobi is completely dying...
