Im trying to purchase the domain ultranet.com

It seems that it is unavailable because it was registered. I went to do a who is and it says the whois is unavailable becase it has not be registered...

I want to purchase the domain, but i do not know who to contact.


Could this be a private registeration?

I had no problem running a whois on it. Was registered in 1994 and expires in 2011. I suggest you try a whois at a different site. Try this site I use them a lot http://www.whois.sc/ You will need to register but they have free accounts which are good enough for most uses.

Ultranet used to be my ISP (I also had an ultranet.com email address ) from 1996 to ~2002-3.

They were bought out by RCN (which I believe is based in New Jersey) and also own ultra.net.

Best of luck, it might take some $$$$$$ to make them consider it.

I contacted UltraNet.com to purchase that domain. THey infomrmed me that the domain is not for sale, as its a tm, and they want me to change the name of my hosting company or they will sue..

When you search Google for 'ultranet' RCN returns as the first result and returns the second result in Yahoo.

This doesn't mean that the term isn't in use; The best way to find out is to search the term and see if there are any hosting companies or the like sharing the same name.

Ultranet was a pretty big web host a few years ago (I was a client), and I believe they were located in your state of PA. I've wondered what happened to them.
