UHM $800,000 name on Sedo auctions now! LEGIT?

www.SEDO.com

Has STABILITY.com right now at
$800,000

What's up with that?

It CANT be a legit bid.

Are people putting false bids on their own names and
then sending them into auction hoping someone
outbids them?

I don't get it.

If there WAS a legit $800,000 bid on STABILITY.com

wouldn't the owner just accept it.

OR, am I missing a reason why stability is a million dollar name?

There definitely have been cases of that and this is certainly not a million dollar name. I sometimes wonder how many bids on Sedo are fake (real bids, but with no intention to ever make the payment should they win).

SEDO has become a joke and I will say this as many times I get a chance to as they have failed me as a customer numerous times.

I've had enough of SEDO.

I thought SEDO would make efforts to verify such
LARGE bids!

I know they can't "check out" every bidder,
but anything over $100,000 deserves a bit of
investigation (into the person and their ability to pay).

The only thing I remember them doing was
some certification thing (mabye 6 or 8 months ago)

where you had to fax them a form.

That's not enough to make everything legit.

Only a couple of backlinks and a Google PR of zero so there's no value added from that side of things. I can't see how anyone would pay this much for that name. You could buy a dozen better names for less than this.

Something fishy if you ask me.

They should add a "start fake auction" button with a text field to enter the desired starting bid.

SEDO is the place where people can easily start fake auctions, where buyers don't pay and sellers don't sell domains after their counte-offers are accepted. :td:

I tried to place a relatively large bid on a domain on ebay a couple years ago (think it was 12k), and they even asked me to provide proof of a capacity to pay, should I win. To be able to place an 800k bid on Sedo without some sort of proof is absurd.

You'd think this would be on the homepage above
March.com's bid,
I haven't seen it there yet!

I was thinking just that myself -- Perhaps questionable names are kept off the homepage but not closed unless they're proved to be more than questionable? IMO, it should be closed. Only an absolute fool (or severely disillusioned individual) would think being offered 800k on stability.com is not more than generous.

 I was also thinking that myself!

I take it March.com is yours?
If so, congrats and good luck :)

Bids such as this should be confirmed, and domains for sale as well. The problem is that any seller can say that the domain is no longer theirs.

They have some limits though. I once try to bid on a domain, lux.net, and the bid was refused because I was already bidding on 2 other auctions, and in neither of them I was the top bidder. I lost that domain. Days later it was resold for 3x if I'm not mistaken.
Sedo upgraded my account to "professional" status, but that domain was lost for me anyhow.

Seems like everyone has LLL.com domains on their mind. I thought that it was uhm.com as well when I read the title! Then I read the post & it wasn't

Should I be holding onto KLO.com as opposed to selling it then?
