Looks like that may be the highest documented sale for a .org, thus far, in 2005. A quick perusal at
DNJournal of the top sales of 2004 turned up this:
Libtiff.org $16,915
Supernova.org $15,000
GIF.org $10,735
Medicine.org $10,503
Erickson.org $10,500
888.org $10,250
NY.org $10,000
Buy.org $10,000
At that amt, I doubt that the winning bidder was a wholesler/reseller, but that would not be out of the range of possibility- that's a great 3LL .org.
As for price range, it is almost necessary to look at enduser and auction sales figures of 3LL's, on a monthly basis. A year ago, w/ a few exceptions, I was able to pick up 3LL .orgs at Snapnames for $60-$70 because people were focusing on 3LL .com's and .nets and there was little B/O competition for the the .orgs, and .infos/.us were still available for open registration, while quality 3ll .biz drops could be picked up easily and inexpensively.
Lately, both .info and .org are about neck and neck in the auctions I have been involved in for "avg"-"above avg" 3LL names w/ prices ranging from just under $200- $450/$500 for the most part.
As always, it depends upon the LLL's, the name's desirability, how competitive the auction, the monetization/capitalization potential and other market factors. Not to be glib, but I would estimate the actual enduser value of this name to be right about at $7,500. (Post sale is the best way to insure a dead on appraisal, all others being educated best guess estimates.)
