Type-ins: How much value does it add?

I've added about 12 domains to my sedo account and I've noticed several type-ins within 24 hours. I'm curious as to how much value type-ins add.

For example, what about a domain that get's 100 type-ins a month?

Thanks.

many people like type-ins because you get natural traffic without any promotion. The trick is how to convert the traffic into clicks.

Type-in names are definitely worth more than non-type-ins. 100 type-ins/month could potentially earn at least $1 so the name would be worth more than reg-fee at least anyway. It depends on how useful the name is to potential buyers, and also on how much you can earn per click for the type-in term.

I would keep the name a while and see how it does over a few months. You should at least be earning some parking revenue if you are getting a little traffic (it may take some time).

I would take exception to that... TRAFFIC is what makes a domain worth something or not.

100 Type-ins per month is not certain to be worth more than 100 search traffic visitors per month. In my book, it's about equal. Both visitors sought out your site and found it. As was pointed out, it's about conversion and that... is based on targeted traffic.

Is the Surfer that arrived at our site, by whatever means, find something of value

But to say one is worth more than the other simply based on its origin is not really fair. I'd take 10,000 search hits over 100 type-ins any day.

As was pointed out, everyone likes money for nothing... the magical type-in domain implies amazing income with no effort whereas search traffic requires development.

I had a domain that received about 700 type-ins a month. I sold it for $400. 1,000 type-ins? I think you could nail quite a bit... depending on the domain. If you had a domain from a saturated market, it'll sell for more. For example: Assuming donains.com got 1,000 type-ins, it'd be worth quite a bit because of the niche. If you had computrs.com that had 1,000 type-ins, the latter domain would sell for more because computers are far bigger a niche than domains, thus the traffic would be worth more.

type-in traffic is the best kind of traffic. If a domain has type in traffic its probably a generic or something similar so its already good. Typos and other non natural type ins are only worth what they make per month x X

Ok, so let's assume I have djdj2948983ndkjsd.com, getting 500 type ins a month. What would you appraise it at? The domain itself is worthless, but I'd like to see the weight of the type ins.

The domain I sold was bad -- I can't even remember it lol -- and it still sold for $400.
