I was reading DnJournal about some big two letter domain names that sold, yet when I went to play around at godaddy.com and try to register a 2 letter domain name it says "domain invalid"?

Does not compute!

Could be how it was entered. I assume that most, if not all two letter domains would be registered/parked by now. Have you tried whois.sc?

Which extension ?
Many registrars assume that domains must be at least 3 characters, but that depends on the extension. Some even allow single letters ;)
I think it's a registrar bug.

I typed a well known two letter dot com in godaddy as "hp.com" and got the invalid name.

Then i typed hp.cc, hp.ws, hp.in and got the same.

Its just a godaddy setting for the masses

Check out Name.com

You can register two letter names there, and there are a few ccTLDs still available for hand reg if thats what your looking for.

Thanks surfer, I wasn't so as much wanting to hand reg ccTLD's, I was just curious after reading DnJournal and had remembered that bug I got on godaddy and was wondering how others were doing it, if I was getting an invalid name error.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something there or doing it wrong :)

I have some regged some of the last "QR" 2-letter domains in the world available since QR technology is booming and I also work in this area. Thought, even if I do not sell I will use them for my. My favorite is QR.mk since it's like "QR make" (also regged qrmake.com for this reason). But the others I put for sale.
Use 101domains.com if you search for 2-chars, they seem not to show all extensions allowed for 2 chars (even if the registries allow) but quite a lot.
With some smaller registrats better be careful - they often have errors in their scripts showing 1 and 2 chars as available while they are not.
