Here's an idea for a WHOIS service that could generate some decent traffic with ad revenue from banner sales. I don't have the time or database background to fully develop.
You would first register a domain like: WHOISGOLD.TV or PREMIUMCHECK.TV
The main page will be formatted like WHOIS.SC. The site will combine the functionality of a standard whois service (registry database) and a premium checker (premium database).
Getting the standard whois functionality would be rather straightforward. The difficult part will be building the premium database. My idea would be to use various sources to create this database and update it using community input.
The premium database (beta) would contain all information available including the current eNom premium list, sales listings in forums, a collection of data from auction descriptions of .TV premiums, and various other websites where premium renewals are listed from recent sales.
The output would look something like this:
Organization Name:
First Name: Bill
Last Name: Houston
Address 1: 730 N Lebanon St
Address 2:
City: Lebanon
StateProvince: TX
PostalCode: 46052
Country: US
Phone: +1.3173721813
Fax: -
EmailAddress:
nameserver:
NS1.RAPIDSPIDER.COM
NS2.RAPIDSPIDER.COM
updated-date: 2007-11-16
created-date: 2007-05-01
registration-expiration-date: 2008-05-01
status: OK
domain: BAD.TV
premium: Yes
renewal: $1000 [optional field]
If the domain were registered anywhere other than eNom, the premium field would report "No". In cases where premium status were not available (not listed in premium database), it would be reported as "unknown" with a link to allow input from registered users. The site moderator could review and verify user submissions for inclusion into the premium database.
The renewal amount could be reserved for registered users only or left out of the system completely.
