Obviously there are a lot of differing opinions on .tv and I know registering any domain strictly in hopes of reselling is a risk...

but

I would like to ask some opinions on registering a .tv

I found one I like that is available and it is not a "premium" so I can get it for $29.95 at idiotz dot net

It is a two worder that actually has to do with television... (I know .tv does not actually stand for television but I think that is irrelevant)

OVT for the two words seperated is 1332 for October, the two words together is 33...

Obviously this is sort of vague, but I am just wondering what anyone who is "in the know" about .tv thinks...

Thanks!

I personally will NOT reg a .TV unless the keyword(s) are 50K or greater on Overture. With those numbers you are pretty much guaranteed some typein traffic and minimal marketing once you build the site.

Here's an example, I just regged webserver.tv. 60K overture. 11 million google. Non-premium .tv with OBVIOUS uses. It was a no-brainer.

1,300 is a bit low and wouldn't make my radar.

But that's imho.

yea id agree ... those numbers are way too low ... unless the domain is an ultra intrinsic when it comes to .tv where although it's not searched much, it will not easily be forgotten when seen as a domain.

Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate it ... the one I am looking at seems to be perfect for .tv but it would need serious development, I am going to sit on it for a while and see how things go over the next little while... and if it is still around after I get my next cheque from parking I may go for it...

I have few domain portfolion .TV extension. I got traffic because it is www.Surface.TV latest show in NBC4.

I will continue to buy premium names in .TV between $500-$1000 only, this is a very high maintenance extension. Sometimes I have this doubt ..

Only time can tell if this .TV is a good extension for resell business.

Cheers,
EM

All good points, I agree watcher it is high maintenance and also better to reg one good $500 .tv than 5 or 10 bad ones or so-so names. This is a development ext you are not going to buy 20 .tvs and resell shortly if you have a longer horizon to hold them and can then you will see the ext pick up over that time. Buy development can lead to a profitable site, and notice from the big competitors who will arrive late to the party. But more and more are arriving. Linker be careful with two word names unless you have a def development strategy, there are plenty of good generics available $500 to $1000 nothing for an end user to spend on a quality domain.

As was mentioned above, there numerous exceptions to the rule. Like very specific / niche names that are perfect for the extention. Like:

PayPerView.tv (11K Ovt)
Super.tv (40K Ovt)
