.TV Domain Sells For As Much As A 3 Letter .com on NameJet.com
February 23rd, 2009 · 5 Comments
Yes shocking, but true.

A .tv domain sold on NameJet.com for just $100 less than a three letter .com sold for the day before.

Interracial.TV sold for $5,000 yesterday while GGK.com a very good three letter .com fetched just $5,100 the day before.

Here are the other sales from NameJet.com over $1,000 that sold this weekend that were on my list

partsforsale.com $5,500
cameracrew.com $2,700
blueplaque.com $2,367
damagedhair.com $1,900(re-auction)
cardsystems.com $1,800
goodcreditreport.com $1,755
guiders.com $1,500
hms.net $1,500
einwood.com $1,300
naturalbigboobs.com $1,210
mygloves.com $1,000

So a ll.tv beats a ll.com and the next week a .tv name sell for only $100 less than a LLL.com

I love it !

Thanks for the info!

Not sure it is particularly "shocking" for a .tv domain to sell for $5000.

Collider.tv - wow!

Sometimes it is impossible to work out what is a real gem. I would have passed that name by a thousand times, but it ends up being worth over $5k. Incredible.

I'm shocked too. Congrats on a great sale.

I very much doubt the name is "worth" $6500. Sounds like a huge overpayment by an enduser.

Apparently it is "worth" precisely $6500.

I'm glad to see such great sales for .tv, it's one of the few extensions I believe in other than .com...

Sounds like endusers see value in the .tv extension. The extensive use of the extension by major media players may have something to do it.

If the buyer put it up for auction today what price do you think it would get?

I think there always has been some degree of enduser sales in .tv. Not sure usage by major media players is "extensive" but it is certainly a known alternative for tv shows/networks/video sites etc.

Doesn't matter. It got $6500.

Do you go around every sales report claiming the buyer over-paid, the domain wasn't worth it, etc., or do you reserve that just for .tv? I consider it bad form.

Don't all endusers overpay for just about every domain in every extension.. I think that's what we are all aiming for.. overpaying endusers...

Right, but that to me sounds like an overpayment rather than the value, people overpay and underpay for things all the time-a lot of private sales and most "enduser" sales fall into that category. The seller got lucky and the buyer not so lucky. Let's not kid ourselves that this name has some kind of hidden value that everyone else missed. On the flip side if someone sold me a 3 letter .com for $500 because they didn't know what the name was worth would that then be the value of the name?

I do it for a lot of different sales, whenever I think someone has overpaid.

You've hit the nail on the head in my view....that is what I aim for aswell, selling for way above market value. It is a bit like lightening though trying to get those sales..

Yup.... it was worth $6,500 to someone! They might even think they got a good deal on it! :sold:

What I am getting from his posts is that Snoop is so 20th century, and he seems to want us to stay there with him. You stay, Snoopsie, we will proceed in this century, thanks.

Aha! So what you're really saying to the seller(s) when you're saying they were overpaid is Great Job! Well Played!
