Right.

Let's try and get this place going.

Does anyone have any ideas?
There seems to have been a lot of things in the past about group teen projects. This thread is for ideas about what we can do to increase the teen zone's activity as well as for everyone to post their skills/etc.

I was thinking about convincing NPQueen to put a message in the header (near the live chat link) asking for teens to set their age in their profiles so that they can see this section. I feel a large number of people are unaware of this forum purely because they either set the incorrect age in their profiles, or if they don't set it at all.

Another is create a sort of teen badge? We should be proud that we are teens playing ball with the adults in a mature world.

I'm really open to any suggestions you lot have. Us teens our known for our creativity so lets show it.

Also, there's been two threads about a sort of live meeting. Perhaps we can get the forum more popular and have a sort of conference in the live chat? We can our own room in the NP live chat which I can moderate.

Agreed, however I think we should just test option 3 first to give the forum a chance, I think the idea was created to help Teenagers make friends with people of the same age, however is this really what we want?

Why should age matter? I'd rather have friends based upon whether or not I shared the same interests and abilities, than based upon them having a similar age to me. The whole notion, to me, is ridiculous. If I make friends with someone who's the same age as me, fine, but I don't seek out friends based upon age.

Agree!!! Age only starts to matter when you have a seperate Teen forum. Some poeple might feel more comftable talking with people their same age, and get where they come from.

I dont think this age deal would exist at all if we didn't have a seperate forum. There are advantages, but not that maney.

I say : lets make the teen forum into a gaming, free time ect. discussion board. but the name "Teen" needs to be removed, and all ages can participate.

Whos in ?

wow, now I like that idea, so it becomes more of an in-depth "Break Forum".

I really, really like that idea. I have pm'd NPQueen, lets see what she thinks.

I think we could develop maybe a "mini" teen domaining forum (within this one, of course) with different sections. I'm quite sure there are many domainers here who are teens yet who don't know about this section. Aditionally I think when people are signing up there has to be some sort of sign stating that teen domainers get access to a unique section.

Hopefully the next moderator (picked this upcoming tuesday i think!) will follow through.

=D

ye, it is tuesday :) I have applied for multiple forums, I actually wouldn't mind getting this one, as long as RJ and NPQueen let me put a few of my plans in action.

I like how your thinking Alex, I have also thought about creating multiple "teen" type forums within the Teenager category.

Right, im off to bed, lol.

I don't think Sean is quite on the right lines for the teen zone; turning it rather in to a teen forum than a teen category on a domaining forum.

I shall put forth my "vision" for the teenzone before I was removed;
  • Firstly, open the forum up to those under 25 and rebrand as 'Young Domainers and Developers' or something similiar
  • Secondly, introduce a badge system (with optional turn off in a users profile) which would be displayed in the postbit
  • Thirdly, turn the Young Domainers and Developers in to a category, and introduce two subforums; Discussion/General Chat, and Marketplace. In this marketplace, people could sell domains to fellow teens, or offer services to young domainers, basically creating a better ethos about younger domainers.
That's the main points, pretty much. It's a shame I didn't get the chance to implement my ideas, but perhaps the new mod will.

Hi, It's nice to see Joe that even though your no longer a mod, that you want to help this forum.

I have said since day one that I really like your badge idea, this will help bring the younger community together.

I also liek your under 25 idea, before I was saying open it to all, but I never thought about limiting it to 25. This would open up the forum to ALOT more users.

I think your marketplace idea is good, however it would only work if its used for services, people won't want to post things for sale if they can get more views from the normal marketplace.

However I think the marketplace idea would brign ALOT more peopel to the forum that maybe currently dont even know about it.

thanks
Sean

What I meant by expanding the teen forum was expanding it as a domaining forum (rather than including sports and stuff..)

Something like a mini-forum-teen-domaining website (that's assuming we can get enough teens flowing in here).

Also, all of you teen domainers should join the group James created!

I agree with Joe. I think that we should move away from the 'teen' tag as well as the 'teen zone' forum which doesn't sound like anything respectable or anything that the majority of people would be interested in participating in.

ye, i much like the title "Young Domainers and Developers", this will not only allow us to open up the forum to under 25 instead of under 17, but it will make it sound less negitive (if you get me).

I vote: YES !!

But lets all have in mind that this thread was started because some people saw the teen zone as "didn't matter", and they wanted to make the forum more "simple".

So whatever we deside for the "teen zone" to become, lets keep it simple, and not too confusing :sold:

I think there is A LOT of stuff we can do to get this section rolling and through these three pages I'm sure it can be executed with some level of success.

As of now I think the biggest issue is getting a moderator back in the section so that all these ideas can be carried through to the administration.

One was supposed to be picked on Tuesday, never heard anything.

I was told if someone had been picked they would have been told, so maybe we arn't getting one :(

I don't remember this topic coming up at the meeting last Tuesday with Jennifer and Rachel. I'll request that it's added to the agenda for next week.
