Hello,

I own SWVW.NET and I have had it for about 4.5 years now. I just let the site go, and no longer have time to maintain it. I recently parked it, and its earning about $2.50/day through namedrive. I've only had it parked for 2 days... so that might go up or down.

I want to sell it... What would be the best way for somebody whom has never sold a domain to do so? Should I fork out the money to get it professionally appraised? Should I go auction? or set amount? I honestly have no idea what its worth, but a couple of those bot appraising programs said around x,xxx. I honestly don't think they are that accurate.

I have registered at snapnames, and sent them and email about the auction process. Is this a good route to go? Any information would be great!

Thank you,

~Josh

IMHO, the domain itself is not worth much, but the traffic is. I wouldn't fork out the money for a professional appraisal as it is easily appraised based on traffic and earnings.

If it's making $2.50 a day parked, then I would keep it parked for at least a full month to get some decent statistics, then auction it, with the starting bid at 12 months revenue ( around $900 ). You could also point it to a hosted page with google analytics / awstats in order to get a comprehensive breakdown of traffic.

Bear in mind that NameDrive has a reputation of relatively low paying clicks, so domainers with better parking options could make more if the traffic is consistent.

If people request to test the traffic for a few days, then let them - point the nameservers to wherever they want in exchange for compensation for the regular earnings for that time frame.

I agree, you're more likely to get more money for your domain based on traffic sale than trying to sell it for the name itself.

Park your domain, try using different parking providers to see which one gives you the best CPC, I would hold onto it for at least 2-3 months, and then try and sell the domain based on traffic revenue.
Good domains sell between 12-15 months revenue and as long as you can provide stats for the traffic, you should be on your way.

good luck

i just want to mention that you shouldn't get it "professionally appraised" as it will just be a waste of money.

good luck!

Take some shots of how it is doing right now, You really do not need to get it professionally appraised if you are not sure what you want for it. I bet you can get good grand for it though. Domain is short, is been established for a wail. Has steady traffic.

Try ebay or some forum Marketplaces and see what offers you may get. I know with old domain of mine that I have never used, never got traffic to, been 3 months old at the max, I got $700 for it just because of the name. So their are tons people out there that would spend good money on domains.
