I had signed up for 1&1 Professional Hosting because it was free for three months. I thought that they would only charge me if I do not cancel my account before three months. Today we I tried to cancel my account, it shows that I have one year contract with them.

What the hell. I have never heard contract with hosting company. It means that we cant change the hosting service regardless of how bad their service is!!!!

I tried to change my credit card information from their website but their system did no allow me then I thought otherways. I changed the payment method to Paypal which they asked to sign a payment agreement. After changing my payment method to paypal, I noticed that they have removed my credit card information. I went into my paypal account and canceled my payment agreement which means that they wont be able to take money from my paypal. I am still not sure if they have really removed my CC information . I think, I would need to call me bank to report my CC as lost so that they could issue me new CC with new details.

Do my process sound OK to you people. Did I do any thing wrong. I just dont want them to take £30 ($60) / month for nothing.

You should have read the Terms a little deeper I think :(

It should say you get 3 free months on the condition that you sign up for a years hosting or whatever. I don't think any company just give you 3 free months and then let you quit.

You can still get hosting elsewhere and just not use the 1and1 hosting, but then that's a waste of money really I suppose.

Remember, there's no such thing as a freebie ;) (There's always something in it for someone).
