Well, I hope this is the right forum for this, but I started transferring my domain to another service from GoDaddy on the August 15th and the domain has just expired today on the 20th.
Is my domain going to transfer or am I going to have to renew it in GoDaddy's "Grace period"?

The transfer should normally complete soon.
Some registrars like netsol prevent you from transferring away if there is less than 7 days left before expiry but godaddy should be OK.

PS: check in your control panel at godaddy the status of pending transfers, you should be able to expedite the transfer.

Well, apparently the domain was "Locked" the whole time, so it would prevent transferring to another registrar.
I just unlocked it, and hopefully it will still transfer.

Where exactly is the thing in Godaddy's control panel to look at pending transfers?

First the gaining registrar will send an E-mail to the admin contact (you) with a link to approve transfer, then godaddy will receive the transfer request. In their turn they will send an E-mail for approval, then you should see your name in Domains -> Pending transfers at godaddy, with an option to approve (expedite) transfer.

If this is true then NetSol is in violation of their Registrar Accreditation Agreement.

ICANN does not allow denial of a domain transfer based on the # of days remaining.

"Instances when the requested change of Registrar may not be denied include, but are not limited to:

* Nonpayment for a pending or future registration period
* No response from the Registered Name Holder or Administrative Contact.
* Domain name in Registrar Lock Status, unless the Registered Name Holder is provided with the reasonable opportunity and ability to unlock the domain name prior to the Transfer Request.
* Domain name registration period time constraints, other than during the first 60 days of initial registration or during the first 60 days after a registrar transfer.
* General payment defaults between Registrar and business partners / affiliates in cases where the Registered Name Holder for the domain in question has paid for the registration."

Hi,

You can transfer it during the Auto Renew Grace period.

I do it all the time.

That's very interesting since 1and1 got me with there autorenew setting. It failed because the charge card on file was out of date. I transferred it out and now they have their collection agency demanding payment of fees and penalties.
