I've googled the process and read all the tutorials and multiple steps (seems time consuming), I was wondering if there was a tool or service that streamlined the whole process and made it as quick and easy as possible?

Anyone recommend the fastest/easiest method of going about transferring an entire website to another person/host?

TIA

Are you selling a site and just want to hand over the contents? Or just changing hosting companies or accounts?

A lot of hosts will do the transfer/migration for you free when you sign up.

Otherwise download all files, export db, then on new host upload files, create db, edit wp config file to access db, done - not time consuming if you are familiar with where this stuff is and how it works.

You can always export your text content from within WP with its export button.

Handing over the entire site/contents.

That's the thing, not familiar with setups/databases, exporting, and all that, I'm not completely tech-illiterate, and I'm sure I can figure it out and follow all the steps outlined from what I've read, I used to develop custom sites back in early 2000s with plain html/javascript and a little bit of perl/cgi, just the basics.

I'll put it this way, I just use Softaculous for my WP setups and I'm done with it. They should create a tool to do everything for you within a couple of clicks, which is what I'm looking for :)

Just zip all the files in the folder where WP is and download.

Then go to PHPmyadmin in your hostng, select the DB, and export it as an .sql file and download.

Those two together make up the WP site - that's all - installing them someplace else is up to the new owner then.

Just give your cpanel details to their hosting and inform them to migrate everything from your server.

it will take 10 min maximum for them.

@carob method is easy to do by your own.

Well, explained that way sounds simple enough. Thanks lol

Give my details? My username/password to my cpanel? eh.... :|

Actually that raises another point. What is happening to the domain? Because if the site remains active on your hosting you have now handed over the WP admin access credentials and access to a db on your hosting. You could find that site is used to infect your whole hosting account.

I'd just delete the db and all the WP files from the hosting after the handover. Also you could edit the admin usernames, passwords and emails before export/handover.

in case if you are transferring entire wordpress site including domain.
steps:
1. download all wordpress files into zip.
2. go into your wordpress admin panel, ad a new user give admin privileges and some generic password (this is for new owner).
3. go to your cpanel to phpmyadmin
4. select the database that your wordpress is using. (to make sure you are on a correct database, open your config.php file and look for database_name) lets say its some "wrdp_test" database. in phpmyadmin on top select EXPORT and download the sql database of your wordpress.
5. give all this to new user with his new admin username and password.
6 push domain to his account.
let him deal with the rest.

if the deal is that you need to put the website up into his cpanel, then there are more steps.
7. new owner needs to change domains nameservers to the new hosting. give you an access into that hosting phpmyadmmin to create a database, a user and to give that user all priviledges. then you need to IMPORT the sql into that new created database.
8. go to your files open config.php and change existing database name, database user and database password to a new one created in step 7.
9. upload all files to his hosting.
10 all set.

I wouldn't do it manually when there are plenty of great backup plugins available. I suggest you pay some money for one, but it is well worth it. These are tools that developers (myself), hosting companies and WP-only hosts use.

This one is works great.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-backup-to-dropbox/

If you pay $19, you get the option to download a zip file of everything before it goes to Dropbox.

BackupBuddy also works very well, but I don't know if it is worth the price anymore.

There are some free ones available, but it always seems to be a crapshoot if they work or not.

What kind of Developer would pay $19 for simple folder/database download/export->upload/import to simply migrate his WP installation to another hosting which would take no more than 20 minutes even if developer uses CP and Windows server?
What do these developers develop?

Just because you know how to do something doesn't mean you want to do it or have the time to do it. People who have washing machines and an iron at home still go to the laundry mat to get their clothes cleaned and pressed. It's all about convenience and what value you put on your time.

I use replikatorpro whenever I want to transfer/backup/clone a wordpress site. It's not free tool, but until now I can say it's worth my investment.

I recently started new hosting and had to upload some sites that i had exported the files to my computer, once i added the domain to the new cpanel i went to the wordpress blog option and added a new site, i then logged on and uploaded the old files (from the tools section in the left sidebar) of the dashboard and if the the sites are under 2 mb they just upload, but you need to redo the them
~
However i have hit a snag with two larger sites and because my knowledge it limited i have not beed able to do the suggested methods at this option, i am not able to get to where i have to make the changes suggested to me ? I can see the configuration but there is no option to make changes, i am sure not a big deal but i have no idea ……..love to hear some suggestions, i hope this helps the Op as well

DUPLICATOR WP Plugin will create a zip file and PHP install and update all URLs.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/

I have yet to find a problem with it (you may have timeout issues and it warns about HUGE files)

Just moved 20 plus WP sites in a couple of days using Duplicator for the first time,no problem.

were the sites large? I have recently moved a few and then hit the hurdle of a 2mb limit , the two sites i need to mover are 11mb and 15 mb .. are these too big for the duplicator ?

None particularly large.

Okay, now I'm really confused, as when I had talked to that hosting company I did ask this question on how I would transfer over a site to someone.
They told me that all I would have to do is change nameservers over to them, and the site would go with it, as I am keeping my domains on Godaddy, but having them hosted on a different platform (Not sure which yet, am still looking and weighing my options) ...So in order to do that, all I need to do is change nameservers to the hosting company.
Also, If I put it in the stipulations, (when selling) that they must have an account with (Whatever Hosting Company I go with) couldn't the hosting company just do the transfer over to their account? Couldn't they could do the entire transfer over for me for that site? Do you think they really can, or do you think are they just trying to make a sale?
I am also wanting to build out my domains, but I am still going to be JUST learning WP over again from html, But the rest of this sounds even more confusing. However, when I asked the hosting company about it, they made it sound so easy...OY! :-/
