Trademarks registered later than domain name

Well, I got it, finally... I registered a dictionary name under a country-specific TLD almost 7 months ago and somebody in this country has just registered this (English dictionary) name (a few days ago) as a trademark in that country and wants me to transfer the domain to them. At the moment of registration, the trademark did not exist, so I had no intentions to take advantage of somebody's TM... Interesting?

Perhaps you had intention of registering a domain that WOULD later be trademarked...? You need to learn about the domain dispute process or you may lose the domain, even if the trademark is new.

If you have a site on the domain and have been using it, you may be on secure ground, but if not, then it's hard to tell. Since they are in a different country, it may be harder for them to take your domain, but you really need to get some expert advice. If you would be willing to sell the domain to them, then let them contact you, since offering to sell the domain may be considered bad faith. I would not respond or talk to them until you are sure of what you are doing...! :)

Good Luck!
