I have only just got into this great scene of domain trading and having been reading everything I can to bone up on the subject. I know my first 3 purchases are a waste of space, but maybe
I might get lucky on my other 4, if anyone would be good enough to take a look and appraise.

I'm sorry I can't fulfill hardly many of the appraisal notes as suggested in the sticky above as I don't understand most of them yet ;-(
I've been trading 3 days.

All these domains are parked by sedo.com except qizbi.com
None have any traffic
none have any history afaic tell, No Alexa, No backlinks.

I don't expect much from these of course, if I could break even with
maybe some extra to buy some hosting I would be happy so I can start again from scratch ;)

Ok here they are, the stinkers (embarrassed)
(In order of purchase)

Lushness4U.com
BiteYourArmOff.com
GothZombies.com
ShedLard.com
Cazix.com
Trexiz.com
Qizbi.com

Looks like I made every mistake in the book, but may I have got lucky with one of them?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi,

We all have made mistakes in the beginning, some bigger some smaller. Since you have registered new domains the only traffic can come from type ins (exact words or typos), so there is no surprise these domains do not produce much.

I think last 3 domains could be seen as brandables, so I would submit to BB or NR to see their opinion and possibly increase exposure. The rest is funny but I do not see much use. Still domains, especially brand able ones seems to be more of a waiting game so do not get disappointed if success wont come right away.

Good luck

Hi and welcome!

Cazix is a very nice one. Easy easy to pronounce & remember, short, has a nice optic and sound.
Keep this and submit it to the "Brand Boutiques".

Trexiz.com & Qizbi.com are also pronounceable with some potential brandability.

The other ones are really not sellable imho.
It is really better not to register the first weeks any domains and read as much as you can. You will loose most of your regmoney anyways ;)

Read as much as you can. You will find in this great forum all knowledge you need. Spend every free minute here and in a few weeks you will see domaining with other eyes.

Here some links to start:

Brand Boutiques: Brandbucket.com, Namerific.com ( great brand boutiques, you can submit there your last three domains)
Some basics about brandable domains: https://www.brandbucket.com/blog/archives/choosing-name

Domainsherpa.com (great interviews and articles)

Trademark checks
US Patent and Trademark Office: http://www.uspto.gov/trademark
International Patent and Trademark Office: http://www.wipo.int/branddb/en/

Good luck

Do not feel bad.
CHeck out the threads here where people post their latest regs, their maijuana domains, holo domains and more.
And you will say to yourself...hey, I am not the only person picking up bad, crappy domains that won't sell.

Muttus, many thanks for your opinion and made me feel not quite as dumb as I did lol
Could I ask who or what is "BB" and "NR"? please.

Is it ok to try to direct traffic to parked domains I wonder?
Not sure how I would do that anyway, just thinking aloud.
thanks

Hi Domaineus
thank you for a really useful reply, I appreciate your time.

As you can see by the order I bought them I am learning slowly. The last 3 I bought you say may have potential, awesome, just needed to know if I was on the right track.thank you.

(i cant post links yet btw)
btw shedlard was my twist on Loseweight which would be vhigh value I guess, huge market, but shedding weight is very British way of talking and lard is kin of derogatory I suppose?

yes I have spent the better part of 3 days reading and watching videos, It all started with a free video course on udemy which was basically a long advert for prodarta, it was poorly produced but enough to get my juices up and take the plunge.

I already subbmitted my last 4 to Namerific, awaiting response.
I have been watching some domainsherpa videos.

I will look into the others you suggest and thanks for the links I will study them all and more.

thank you for inspiring me with your help.
regards

I think you already got your answer from Domaineus.

BB - Brandbucket.com - Suggests your price, they require to have monopoly on your domain, bigger exposure IMHO, main focus on shorter and punchy
NR - Namerific.com - allows you to choose price, you can advertise in other places, less exposure IMHO,

I am still new but from reading lot of thread about parking and conditions and terms in parking companies, forwarding traffic to one domains is forbidden as well as creating new backlinks for parked domains.

There are some members who make living out of parking domains and I am trying to learn about this method as well but finding right domain is not easy task (check and read www.namepros.com/threads/domain-parking-tips-tricks-to-help-you-earn-more.759473/). The problem I am having is that all good domains (the ones I think might be good) are being snatched under my nose :).

Good luck

Thanks for the info Muttus.
I should of said I checked out brandbucket last night and there's a few things I'm not happy with on there and prefer namerific for now, though they don't prefer me by looks of it lol, no answer to approvals yet.

I've spent this morning looking more closely at sedo parking. I didn't realise you can control what type of theme and adverts\portal\search engine you have on your page which can I'm sure make a difference. Still can't see how to make any money at all out of new domains parked if you cant direct traffic, maybe a few cents a month if lucky ;) I will read the thread you linked for me in a bit thanks.

At the moment I think I'm dealing with a scam email, it has red flags all over it, but just in case I stated a low price ยฃ200 for a new reg and he said no, I only deal with $5k+ as I'm on commision for a rich client, and send me list of all your domains, I accepted the offer lol and sent list I probably shouldn't of done that, I 'm 90% certain I'm being mugged off after looking at the scam mails on a thread on here it looks similar. His name doesn't check out either and is not linked publicly with the well known hosting company he claims to work for.

What really bothers me though is my full name address and phone number is revealed on whois and theres no way I'm paying extortionate fee of $5 each domain to cover it up (not till Ive made a sale or two anyway), it should be free imho for security sake, surely godaddy makes enough to offer that free, would be a usp for them! Anyone know if there is a free service to cloak whois?

Does one really have to use real full name and real address on theses things? Makes me uncomfortable.

He will definitely ask you to buy domain certificates or appraisals= a very old scam :-/

Generally there are 2 ways to get traffic to your parked domain, by old back links or by type in. When used domain expire, sometimes the backings stay there and they drive traffic to the page. Sounds easy but I have spend last month to find such domains in the drop (for reg fee) and as I stated before I am still waiting for one which I am certain that will pay the bill.

For new domains the trick is about search volume and cpc, you try to find domains with exact match to high search volume (lets say cosmeticsurgery.com). Sadly you will find out that 99% of good domains are taken, sometimes they drop. But if you see lets say cosmetic surgery having .i.e. 150000 searches, that does not mean 150000 visitors, since the only visitors you can be sure of are those one which type in cosmeticsurgery.com (only 30 in this case). That is why typos of most visited pages are popular (fecebook.com). Then there is cpc. You can have domain with low search volume but if there is high cpc there is chance to make some money since you will need only few clicks to get a good amount.

That is my understanding, but there are much bigger experts on this topic, who have more to say.

Good luck

Hi Muttus
So, to sum up, in reality, the only benefit from parking a newly regged domain is the off chance of someone seeing it for sale?
I have found that off-chance led a scammer to me as well lol.
Any money (more than a $ perhaps over the year) from adverts unlikely.

I'm wondering if whois shows my personal details on new regs if I don't park it or use it???

I found out that Name Bright does a free privacy thing with each domain, but with no coupons the costs wouldn't be much different for me.

I wouldn't bother with the privacy, if someone wants to buy your name it only makes it that much more difficult for them to find out who owns it. You want to make it as easy as possible for a potential buyer to find out how to contact you.

That is correct + you might see if there is some traffic

If you make 1 $ you will be lucky

I'm wondering if whois shows my personal details on new regs if I don't park it or use it???

It shows all the time unless you pay for privacy. I do not bother with domains I own. I would consider privacy on 10000+$ domains

I found out that Name Bright does a free privacy thing with each domain, but with no coupons the costs wouldn't be much different for me.
