TopKill.com rocking at Sedo!

As reported by DotWeekly.com,TopKill.com, a domain with keywords related to the current oil spill crisis, although it was registered before such crisis, is generating great interest and growing in bids (15 so far) on Sedo. Could this phenomenon spread to other related domains?

TopKill.com ended for $1,000 at Sedo auction yesterday (6/4/10).

The name can be used for much more than related to the oil spill IMO. In my article, I thought it would be a good name for a gaming style site.

I agree. Would the keywords related to the successful methods go for much more? Or, would the more crisis-specific domains sale for a higher sum? I am referring to names such as (Not owned by me, just in case):

The biggest problem you are always going to have is that these domans are time specific...if the opening poster had sold his domain before the news that it had failed he would've likely got more than $1k but it is not guaranteed, it is still a fairly good name on its own.

When the first person hits the nail on the head with the most visits and searches that person is going to do well as in this case, then you always find 1001 copycats who have no original thought patterns rolling around in their head registering every possible derivative and simply diluting the market.

If you do not get in on the first 24 hours with the best possible name your chances drop exponentially with each passing hour I think.

By the way, bpspill.com could hold some trademark issues.
