Toke.net auction on TDNAM

It was at like 880 with 2 min left and so I was like yeah, I'll bid. So I proceeded to bid in $5 increments till 1025. I kept getting outbid everytime so I would just wait till like 40 seconds left and bid again 5 higher. Then at 1025 someone bid up to 1200 then it just starting bouncing up.. 1500, 1800, then 2300, and final selling price was around 3400.

What's interesting is when I was bidding at between 880 and 1025 there was no other activity and I was waiting till I think one time till 30 seconds left. So I'm wondering if I inadvertently prolonged the auction till others came along ? Or were others sitting waiting till it hit 15 seconds left ?

Oh and just goes to show you... when I was bidding at 1025 I was thinking "wow, is this name worth that much? Should I continue ?". :yell:

I had a few bids on that domain as well, but not after it reached in the thousands. I don't know the answer to your question though, would be interested in hearing the response.

You were probably being outbid by a proxy bid. There were probably other people like you watching it and seeing all the bid activity and thought they should get in on the action. Any eratic jumps in price were probably higher proxy bids overbidding lower proxy bids. For sure there were at least 3 bidders (including yourself). Probably more.
