which is better?

.TM stands for Turkmenistan.. and .MD for Moldova

.TM also for TradeMarks (businesses) ..

and

.MD also for Medicine (medical instituitions, professionals, etc)...

which extension is more valuable?

I'd be bold and say .md due to the marketing that has been done with the extension. But I still like .com better.

I don't know about .md but .tm is really expensive. Can you afford the cost ?
I would go for .com and register a US TM with uspto.gov for < $400.

I haven't checked lately, and frankly haven't heard much about these domain recently. However, I think they used to have requirments that for TM you had to prove you had a trademark, and for MD you had to prove you were a doctor. Unless you have plans to develop, I don't think either is worth speculating with.

Yeah, i would go .TM just sounds better to me....

but if you were using for medical reson .MD would be better.

I think both extensions are valuable from a users perspective. .md is good for medicine industry and medical professionals. .tm is good for commercial purposes and Trademarks.

I think .tm sounds better to the ear than .md. Obviously it depends on the situation like everyone mentioned before.

I think a .tm domain should only be purchased if you actually have a trademark... there's no sense getting one if it can be replaced with .com.
