Question on tld adherance,

1. If we registered a .org domain and use it for commercial purpose, it is just a mismatch or a legal issue?

2. Similarly if I registered .us domain and not a US citizen, is it illegal ? If it is then .us names cannot be sold to non US citizens

3. When registering a domain, there is a question being asked

"This domain will be used for Business /Personal " use. ? I usually select something randomly. Where is this information going and why this question is asked..

Just a mismatch

They could come back and try to take it from you later, of course, but it isn't that heavily enforced at the moment.

That's GoDaddy's way of finding out what to sell you, I think. No use that I'm aware of.

A non US citizen can register a .US if he or she "regularly engages in lawful activities in the United States" or maintains a property in the US.

The business/personal use question is a required question .US registrars must asked. Your response is kept on file with the registry. I'm not sure if this information is ever reviewed by them or not.

It's going to the FBI. They will check randomly that you have answered right. I'm afraid you'll have to stick to your answer when you develop the domain...
