Would you ever consider paying for a .tk domain? They're 6.95 a year. The only registrar I can find for them are the originals, so they don't seem to be official domains...

Lots of registrars have .tk, including Moniker and iDotz. GoDaddy also has them but last time I checked all of them show as taken.

Would you buy a .pl polish domain? sex.pl maybe, but anything else? you can probably get the domain name you want in a gtld, which would be much better choice, or .us if you are in US. I don't see why you would seriously want to buy a .tk domain. From their website, "Tokelau, a country in the South Pacific". .tk is the most spammed tld in the world. the good point for .tk is you can hold the name for free until the name is actually sell to others.
that means you can investigate $0 for real bucks.

The problem with .tk is that it is looked down upon. This is because it is used (mainly) by hackers, gaming related/clan sites, and other sites that cant afford or dont want to buy a domain. Which is all well and good.

The .tk extension has been put down so many times that it really cant get back up. Because of which, people see very little value in investing in a .tk name.

Last time I looked there were minimum traffic requirements for the free names - and all of the names that I checked were taken. So you would have to do something to drive traffic to the name.
