Have any of you ever used a .tk forwarding domain? I used to but I find it annoying with their 25 day less than certain clicks thing.

IMO it's not that good, unless your just starting out.

I used to use it a long time back, when they did not have any ad pages, favicons, or the 25-day inactivity thing.

Anyway, I'm sure all that will be removed if you PAY for the domain, but it is well known as being a free domain... so nobody would look at your site seriously.

In addition, it is a url forwarder. The url in the address will remain the same because your page is put into a frame, and that is TERRIBLE.

Just buy a domain from yahoo if you are really broke, if not get one from domainsite or registerfly

I used to use them and they were horrible. At least uni.cc offers DNS while .tk doesn't even have that. I now buy my own domains.

i have them before and availed of their freedomains.tk but when you register something it always forward to their registration and signup page.

I used to use them way back then when I had tripod type of sites :p

And yeah, it's a URL forwarder. The part about it staying in your address bar is really annoying.

There's a lot of free sites that offer DNS subdomains out there that are actually very nice (i.e: http://afraid.org)

If you don't have the budget for a domain name, hell just save up $NP and get a free domain name from this site ;)

Thats what I'm doing for now. I stopped using the tk domains when they added the bit about it being a forwarder.

I've used .tk "domains" and never will again. I started using them before the entire world of geocities and freewebs sites did, and they weren't nearly as bad as they are now. For a long time I used uni.cc domains since they offered DNS when I had no access to anything to purchase a domain with.

Toolbox123 - I sent you a small NP$ donation to help you on your way for purchasing a domain at NamePros. ;)

They are bait-and-switch crooks. They used the promise of ad-free forwarding to lure in hundreds of thousands of people. Now they hit your sites with so many ads, it's hard to find the content.

Thanks :) :D. As soon as I get my domain, I'll earn more NP and give you some as well.

I have no TK domains. I looked seriously at getting some kw domains, as they were available, but:

1. The dot.tk site was borked - could not proceed through to registration despite multiple attempts, parts of the site not displaying at all.

2. no one ever answered the email I sent them.

couple this with the premium they want for some paid names and the poor public perception - no sale.
