There’s a generational shift happening that I think the domain market hasn’t fully priced in yet.
Right now, .com still dominates—but culturally, it’s tied to an earlier phase of the internet V1.0 and V2.0 , It’s familiar, trusted, and has been the default gold status for over 25 years.
Chronologically, fellow X, Y, Z'ers. even y'all Alphas' are in the mix
When people talk about Gen Z and Gen Alpha, they often miss something important:
.xyz doesn’t just align with one generation — it spans multiple and I believe that's the way it was engineered.
Current active generations online:
And here’s the key:
That environment is:
By 2030, Gen Z + Gen Alpha will dominate digital behavior, but they don’t exist in isolation— influence sphere includes Millennials and even Gen X behavior through platforms, culture, and trends.
So what happens when multiple generations begin aligning with a more flexible naming system?
You get a shift in perception:
But I do think we’re entering a phase where technology and an est. 300 Data Centers to be online in the U.S. alone by 2029.

.xyz doesn’t just align with one generation — it spans multiple and I believe that's the way it was engineered.
Current active generations online:
- Gen X (approx. 1965–1980)
- Gen Y / Millennials (approx. 1981–1996)
- Gen Z (approx. 1997–2012)
- Gen Alpha (2013+)
And here’s the key:
- Gen X tech Guinee Pigs
- Millennials scaled it
- Gen Z reshaped it
- Gen Alpha will normalize it
That environment is:
- platform-native
- identity-driven
- fast-moving
- less tied to legacy naming conventions

So what happens when multiple generations begin aligning with a more flexible naming system?
You get a shift in perception:
- .com = legacy, established, familiar, overrun with non-relevant naming hooks
- .xyz = modern, adaptable, generationally inclusive, new fronter
But I do think we’re entering a phase where technology and an est. 300 Data Centers to be online in the U.S. alone by 2029.
