In my experience as a Domainer (approximately 2 years) I have found that I have more success as I learn to use more and more tools. With new resources being built on a daily basis - Not using them or not knowing about them, can severely limit your ability to be competitive in this industry.
My recommendation to you would be to start reading a lot about whats out there in terms of favorite information sites, drop sites, auction houses, domainer resources...
There are tons of sites out there, and the more you use, the better you'll do.
