Here are this month's hot trends in my opinion:
First the Obvious:

NNNN.NET
Whether you like it or not, all three of them WILL go up in value exponentially in the near future. The NNNN.nets are all worth at least 2-3X reg fee, all LLL.US are now around 4-5x reg fee (godaddy
and now those LLLL.com prounancable ones are especially hard to find. But lets dive in to the less obvious ones.

VERY FEW quality LLN's left to reg (not ending in 0 and no crappy letters). I am smelling a price spike for them within the next few months. I personally made sure to not miss out by regging state codes. There are still a few out there so hurry up and dont be left behind!
NNNN.org
Yes, yes, I know that they are still worth reg fee. But think about it, all 1-7000ish are registered. Only around 3000 are left, which is I know alot but 3000 isnt that much. This will eventually become a NNNN.net as the lower number .orgs are slowly rising in value. I personally have registered the last available NN00.orgs and only around i think 10 N0N0.orgs are available to register. Those same N0N0.nets are hitting XXX at dropcatchers. (4080.net hit $100 at enom). Better stock up on them!
NN00.BIZ
I know it sounds crazy right? Why bother register a NNNN.BIZ unles... its a NN00.BIZ! I personally think any NN00 in the top tlds are worth registering. Only 6 out of the 100 NN00.BIZ are available to register, and those were dropped domains (so go to the expired domains and check em out). This surely will make it at least higher then reg fee and guaranteed profit although I can not say how much more profit. The chinese are obsessed with numbers and it cant get much better then NN00.tTLD .

WHAT? NNNNN.COM? Lol yes true. Only around 30,000 NNNNN.com is available to reg, which means around 70% of NNNNN.COM is already regged. I dunno... I have my doubts on this but hey It could work.
IMHO NNNN's are always going to be in demand as more chinese become connected to the internet. Better stock up on them early.
