I like to keep my expensive names with moniker, probably the safest registrar out there.
Lastpass is a free password manager and webform filler that keeps your data encrypted and safe in the vault even if you lose all of it on your computer.
Do moniker still keep there passwords in clear text?
I very much doubt that they ever did. Out of curiosity, where did you hear that?Do moniker still keep there passwords in clear text?
Thanks, I think I found the thread you're referring to.I saw it while reading a thread on the forums, though it may be outdated now.
I agree that it's bad practice to send passwords in plain text via email, so it's good to know that they no longer do that, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they ever stored them that way. Most likely, they used two-way encryption, which is also how sites like Amazon and PayPal can retrieve your credit card details without storing them in plain text. It's true, Moniker used to store passwords in plain text. You could get a reminder of your actual password. Now they send a link for you to generate a new password. I hope they actually hash the passwords in their database and do not store the passwords in plain text like before.
