Okay I'll try post it again and hope if it stays this time.
Lastpass is a free password manager and webform filler that keeps your data encrypted and safe in the vault even if you lose all of it on your computer.
It has also a good auto login feature.Should work with most browsers.

Lastpass stores your passwords on their own server. Although they are encrypted, I dont like that.

Do moniker still keep there passwords in clear text?

Passwords are never stored on the server. What is stored is undecryptable (one-way) form of password. I really dont think that anybody, over the last 15 years, is using plain text data to compare passwords.

I very much doubt that they ever did. Out of curiosity, where did you hear that?

I saw it while reading a thread on the forums, though it may be outdated now.

It's true, Moniker used to store passwords in plain text. You could get a reminder of your actual password. Now they send a link for you to generate a new password. I hope they actually hash the passwords in their database and do not store the passwords in plain text like before.

I thought I read it somewhere, lets hope that they do though its a massive improvement already by not sending the password in a email to you.

Thanks, I think I found the thread you're referring to.

I agree that it's bad practice to send passwords in plain text via email, so it's good to know that they no longer do that, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they ever stored them that way. Most likely, they used two-way encryption, which is also how sites like Amazon and PayPal can retrieve your credit card details without storing them in plain text.
