Q,X and Z have already been narrowed down in previous Namepros surveys as the 3 least popular letters with 4 letter domains.

There are very few domains (if any) without Q,V,X,Y and Z.

(There were 2 when I last checked)

Hence due to spending trends on domains, the letters V and Y are narrowed down as the other 2 potential letters within the worst 4 Letter domain.

You can't have a worst domain with the last 3 letters of the alphabet as that is too easy to remember. You can't have repetition of letters in the worst 4 letter domain name.

Therefore, the worst 4 letter domain would have to have the letters Q,V,X and Z.

Of the 24 possible combinations, QVXZ and ZXVQ should be removed as ascending and descending domains are easier to remember.

Also, the 12 domains where V and Z are next to each other have to be removed as they they rhyme when pronounced in the USA and that makes them easier to remember and hence more desirable.

This narrows the alternatives down to 10 possible domains.

What is the worst 4 letter domain name possible?

I`d put first J,K,W,Y and H before V.

I'm not debating as to whether V is worse than Y or not. I believe that a domain with all 3 letters X,Y and Z is more desirable than a domain with all 3 letters, X,V and Z due to being more memorable.

My reasoning is due to spending patterns. Every time I've looked at it, the stats on domains registered with the letter V are not very good. I think money talks loudest.

What letter would you pick as worse than V and why?

The italian alphabet consist of 21 letters.

We don`t have : J - K - X - Y - W

So to me all of them would be worse than V

We use so many times V , think Vendetta , Valuta (currency), Vocali (vowels) , Voci (voices) , Velocita` (speed) and I could go on and on.

There are also more Countries starting with V than with Y I think.

Venezuela
Vietnam
Vanuatu

then I have to check :)

If selling domains to Italian people, I will take this into account but I buy names for investment value. I don't have a lot of Italian contacts and the English language is where the main LLLL.com market is today.

Not disagreeing with X or Y.

J is one of the most popular letters for male and female names. (Jesus included)

I have seen a lot of threads where people try and argue that K and W are premium letters. Just recently all domains starting with K and W were bought out. There are a lot of investors who argue with their money that these two letters are better.

Q at the beginning or at the end does not look that ugly. It can be "Quality" or "Quarterly". Q is truly ugly when it is the second or third letter in a LLLL name.

Z before or after a vowel looks ok, but it looks ugly to me when it is between two consonants.

X looks ok when it is located before/after a vowel, isn't it? Like Xerox.

V looks ok and sometimes even looks luxurious (e.g. Bvlgari). If a name has many V's (like viva voce, etc.), it looks like something Italian, and in many cases Italian brands are high-end (like Versace, Armani, Ferrari, etc.).

Y is perfectly ok when it is located at the end of a name. It looks like a typical English word. But, Y looks ugly when it is the first letter of a name, or located between an unusual combination (e.g. qyp).

To me, the ugliest name with q, v, x, z only might be something like vqzx, xzqv....

I understand that, and that`s why I`m interested in other people opinions like the 2 Pools that I ran. It`s an English market, so I have to be the one learning from the native English speakers. I was just giving you my opinion.

By the way: italian transation for Jesus is Gesu` :)

I have developed an evaluation system for LLLL domains in Chinese standard. All the domains in the list are very bad according to my evaluation system. The worst one is VQXZ.com, then VXQZ and VXZQ.

Majority are registered:

name reg data
QZXV.com 15-jul-2007
VQZX.com 06-jan-2007
VXQZ.com 17-oct-2007
VXZQ.com 27-may-2007
XZQV.com 28-aug-2007
ZXQV.com 06-may-2006

VQXZ.com available
XVQZ.com available
ZQVX.com available
ZQXV.com available

So cannot be the worst.

Scary, 6 of 10 gone in two months!

My Theory: People who don't know where to find good lists of available domains or how to get good available domain scanners are probably intentionally looking for bad letter domains in an attempt to get any LLLL.com left.

I think you are correct that people are trying names until they find one available, but that only partly explains this.

Free plug: rather than randomly reg your LLLL.coms go to Dyyo.com and choose the best ones. Goodness knows the remaining names are crummy enough already.

But back to the topic - discarding today's reg there are half of the names already registered that, using one reasonably objective method, are the worst possible. This goes to the idea that there are many ways to view a domain and what is junk to one is gold to another. To somebody those were, perhaps, the best available.

How can you have not heard of Bvlgari???

I voted for 1st option, it IS the most ugly and unpronounceable IMO...

I voted for the last one.
They all hav e a face only a mother could love :imho: :sold: LOL

HOWEVER, there are gems out there.

I nailed 20 last night.

IQTJ.com is one example

In my opinion all good letters.

IQT = IQ Test ... J could be anything, journal etc

I nailed some others i think have potential also

Forget the pronouncable game, thats over. Buy on the aftermarket for that.

There are still acronyms to be had

that`s because 2000 years ago , my old relatives ( THE ROMANS ) , used the letter V everytime there should be the letter U.
