Mystery surrounds Justice's pledge on journalist records

The Department of Justice's (DOJ) pledge that it will no longer secretly obtain the records of journalists has left a number of unanswered questions about the department's handling of leak investigations initiated during the Trump era. Attorney General Merrick Garland reiterated the Justice Department's commitment to refrain from seizing records from reporters in leak investigations.

"Former US president says he still trusts Russia more than the government he once led."

Smart man - so would I. I'd always trust a smart rival more than I would a traitor in my ranks. Comey, Brennan, Clapper et al belong in prison. Among other crimes, lying to Congress. Or do only Republicans go to jail for that?

Surprisingly (or not) it is pretty evenly divided between both parties, back in the day when the "Rule of Law" actually had some meaning :xf.confused:

Upon further investigation on the veracity of statements by Donald Trump pertaining to why he would fire the FBI Director James Comey et.al., reads:

On May 9, 2017, Trump dismissed James Comey, the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, saying he had accepted the recommendations of U.S. attorney general Jeff Sessions and deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein to dismiss Comey. In their respective letters, neither Trump, Sessions nor Rosenstein mentioned the issue of an FBI investigation into links between Trump associates and Russian officials, with Rosenstein writing that Comey should be dismissed for his handling of the conclusion of the FBI investigation into the Hillary Clinton email controversy, a rationale seconded by Sessions.

On May 11, Trump said in an NBC News interview: "Regardless of recommendation, I was going to fire Comey, in fact, when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said, you know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story". On May 31, Trump wrote on Twitter, "I never fired James Comey because of Russia!"

His lies, false and misleading statements are just unbelievable. Yet some people just gobble them up and consent to being lied to (on a scale never before witnessed in US history!) O_o

He is in therapy? Trying to "become a better person?" For what? Jerking off?

No. He was an idiot and didn't check to be sure his Zoom was off. There is no therapy for stupid.

However, since he is a rabid anti-Trumper, he will be rehabilitated by the Party.

If he had any shame, he would just step away from TV for a while. But these people can't help themselves.

Therapy ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

America' image abroad - a comparison

Biden addresses an International audience, but things at home don't seem too rosy.
While most members of the GOP (61 percent) say itโ€™s unlikely Trump will be restored to the presidency, another 29 percent believe itโ€™s very or somewhat likely to happen. But regardless of whether voters think Trump will be reinstated, an overwhelming share of Americans (82 percent of Republicans and 77 percent of Democrats) believe Americaโ€™s democracy is currently under threat, a recent survey poll found.

Meanwhile in most countries polled, people make a stark distinction between Biden and Trump as world leaders. Nearly eight-in-ten Germans (78%) have confidence in Biden to do the right thing in world affairs; a year ago, just 10% said this about Trump. Similar differences are found in Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands, and in all nations where a trend is available from 2020 there is a difference of at least 40 percentage points.

Likewise, an even higher level of confidence in US reflects more favorable views of foreign policy which have emphasized multilateralism and reversed Trump administration decisions, particularly with regards to Climate Change.

Views on democracy in USA...

PG_2021.06.10_us-image_00-08.png

One of the reasons for the low ratings the U.S. received in 2020 was the widespread perception that it was handling the global pandemic poorly.

While attitudes are mixed about how well the U.S. political system functions, the publics in advanced economies surveyed are largely skeptical that democracy in the U.S. is a good example for other countries to follow. Across all publics surveyed, no more than about three-in-ten say the U.S. is currently setting a good example of democratic values.

All news isn't bad, the favourable image has rebounded, most now hold a positive view of the US:

However, there are doubts still:

Donald Trump has been gone a good while now โ€ฆ I know the left is completely obsessed with Trump .. the picture we are seeing right now isnโ€™t any fall out from Trump โ€ฆ that would be a good excuse .. but it just isnโ€™t so โ€ฆ. The change of power had been in full motion since the election โ€ฆ

the only things that have changed are the economy for the worst .. implementation of stupid racial shit and Whiteness .. Karen and other racial slurs by the 13% โ€ฆ the racial shit implemented into schools concerning Whiteness .. the continuance towards Marxism and socialism โ€ฆ Biden hasnโ€™t accomplished a thing so far .
