I don't see the problem here...maybe they should hang a pentagram or two in place of the statues...it is amazing that a Christian school would display Christian symbols...what are those cross toting people thinking!?!?

"Right now about 80 percent of our families do not identify as Catholic.โ€

That's why they're doing it. They're moving to more of an independent school. Demographics have changed in that area, they still want to make $$$, so they're adjusting.

"The students attending San Domenico come from a variety of religious backgrounds besides Christianity: Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam."

Then, not all of them are going:
"She said at least 18 icons remain, including a statue of St. Dominic at the center of the campus."

Hopefully, they
? When most disagreed with pardoning and you don't think the Latino community would have an issue with it, besides any decent people?

The judge was a close relative of one of the defendants in the law suite. AG Eric Holder prevented a jury trial. 60/40 Joe Arpaio would have won on appeal.

A defensible decision, zero cost to President.

Delusional to think there is zero cost to the President. The majority of people are not ok with this, even many fellow Republicans. Maybe zero cost or maybe picked up even more of the Racist right types.

That's not what I see. If you believe politicians or CNN "guest", I guess so but I don't.

SHOCK POLL: Just 21 Percent Of Arizona Residents Want Trump To Pardon Sheriff Joe Arpaio
http://dailycaller.com/2017/08/22/s...ents-want-trump-to-pardon-sheriff-joe-arpaio/

Just to be clear, are you ok with somebody just rounding up people based on how they look? I'm sure you weren't ok with somebody getting attacked based on their haircut?

I read a post by an illegal immigrant with DACA status that was held in Jail by Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
  1. Goes into detail about how evil J.A. for terrorizing immigrant community.

  2. Was arrested for DUI, excuses it as youthful folly

  3. Held in jail ( in the desert ) for a year waiting for trial.
No-one can be held without bond unless you've committed a serious felony and are a flight risk.
Unless you wave your right to speedy trial, a common tactic, you're give a court date within weeks.

  4. Life was shitty in jail. Living in the desert was horrible. He was released after fulfilling his term and wasn't deported.
This young man managed to live in the Arizona for 21+ years without being rounded up by Sheriff before being caught driving under the influence.

He was convicted, served his time but wasn't expelled by the EVIL SHERIFF. I'm sorry he spent time in the desert. Hopefully he's learned something and his life will be a success.

Message I got.. Sheriff Joe was a hard jailer, better not to get caught breaking the law in his county.

Didn't answer my question. Picked some random example, pretending all the other ones don't exist.

"are you ok with somebody just rounding up people based on how they look?"

?

"A federal court subsequently found that after the order was issued, Arpaio's office continued to detain "persons for further investigation without reasonable suspicion that a crime has been or is being committed."

When you really want to win an argument but have nothing left to say.

Just to be clear, are you ok with somebody just rounding up people based on how they look? I'm sure you weren't ok with somebody getting attacked based on their haircut?

1) I never said it was a popular decision.

2) I only said he wouldn't pay a political price. It's OK to disagree

3) I believe even assholes like Sheriff Joe deserve a fair trial.

We should do better about demonizing people we disagree with.

He did. He was convicted. Sentencing was coming up. Trump pardoned him.

Didn't realize I had to answer every fucking question you thought up.

Was Joe Arpaio convicted of racial profiling? We both know he probably encouraged his deputies but I'm old enough to know the liberal outrage is much more political than reality based.

I disagree. As I have stated:

The judge was a liberal activist who's family member was part of the original complaint. She should have recused herself.

Eric Holder intervened and denied Joe Arpaio a jury trail.

Does that make me racist?

In one breath, you say TG should server in the military, regardless of decision made by professional leadership regarding their medical fitness.

Not "regardless of" - I'm debating the assessment of their medical fitness, the arguments for which seem center around mental illness concerns. In early August a bunch of retired generals / admirals released a letter opposing the ban, partly on grounds of disruptions and losing critical talent.

Apparently, there are multiple groups of professionals with vastly different opinions.

There is an alarmingly high suicide rate among US soldiers and veterans in general. Perhaps a focus on better mental health care for the military and veterans is in order.

There was going to be a study, 45 signed the order without waiting for the study. FWIW, TG people serve openly in armed services of a number of other countries.

I asked you about another, analogous law, that discriminates against homosexuals who want to donate blood, because of their medical fitness.

Blood donation is a public health issue, so it needs to evaluate the risk to the public as a whole. No bearing on military morale or preparedness.

And btw, gay men CAN donate blood if they haven't been with another man in 12 or more months.

On another note, I agree the statue hysteria has gone too far. People are being distracted by that instead of focusing on more important issues.

How to destabilize a country: 1) Feed and overemphasize the extremists at both ends of the spectrum. Right and left.

First, stop being overly dramatic. Have I ever called you racist? No.

You disagree with what? Facts? Sentencing was coming up, Trump pardoned him.

You think the racial profiling is more liberal outrage than reality?

"The Justice Department accused Arpaio of engaging in "unconstitutional policing" by unfairly targeting Latinos for detention and arrest, and retaliating against critics. In the report, a Justice Department expert concluded that Arpaio oversaw the worst pattern of racial profiling in U.S. history."

That's Racist.

*I mean Jorge for calling State Senator Steve Montenegro a race traitor. That is, choosing the law over his race.

You insinuated it with your questions, twice.

"The Justice Department accused Arpaio"

Why didn't they get a conviction? The problem DNC has, Eric Holder was a political soldier not an honest Attorney General.

Accusations by political opponents are worth shit. See how that works? When you spend six years attacking people based on their politics, those people tend to disbelieve everything you say.
