Yes, well Chick-fil-a is evil, and the media needs to watch carefully for any hint of misconduct or inappropriate language by any of its employees. Meanwhile, Russia has reached nuclear parity with the USA for the first time in decades. But Russia is not quite as evil as Chic-fil-a.:D

Such is the state of political awareness in the US these days.

Such is the state of cognitive awareness when a person believes that focusing attention on one news story signifies ignorance of other news stories and the importance of either. However, I realize how easy it is to classify a news clip as unimportant because it's short.

In this case, I can see why you think I shouldn't waste time considering anything of less importance than spending my days and nights cowering under my desk wringing my hands and waiting for the blinding flash of light signifying mutual assured destruction. Yes sir, the sky is falling.

What's nonsense is that the main culprit of the so called global warming... the US, (actually they've probably been overtaken by China by now) has been so slow to take measures to reduce so much crap going into the air. Americans could easily start by forcing their car manufacturers to built much more fuel efficient cars, like we have in Europe.

Americans cars are the worst gas guzzlers on earth, have been so for almost 100 years. (what can the world do when Americans have this love affair with big cars) Look how much crap these cars have spewed into the atmosphere in all this time. US Car manufacturers and Oil companies have castrated and shelved dozens of fuel efficient technologies for cars for so long that people have resignated themselves to the status quo. Liberals keep talking about global warming, but what have they done? Nothing. They keep blaming it on Conservatives.

They talk about it when the temperatures rise and they talk about it when the temperatures drop, WTF, make up your minds. Oh of course I almost forgot.... they can always call it "Climate change" when temperatures drop and "Global warming" when it gets hot.

No one that I know of is blaming conservatives for global warming (and/or climate change). The problem is that many conservatives simply deny the situation exists, which makes it pretty hard for anyone in congress to pass legislation (especially now).

Yes, Americans guzzle fossil fuels like they were energy drinks. We're a spoiled country in many ways. That's the status quo.

No, the problem is that liberals keep insisting that global warming is man-made, and that the 'solutions' they offer seem to benefit progressive oriented campaign donors rather than the actual environment. I wonder how many times Al Gore has used an airplane THIS week.

No, the problem is getting conservatives to even admit there is a problem, no matter who or what is the cause. You didn't post any evidence liberals are more concerned with using their proposed solutions to make money for campaign donors, which I find as hard to believe as you probably find it hard to believe that being a denier helps their energy company campaign donors make their billions with absolutely no regard for the environment. Whether you agree or not with their motives, at least liberals are coming up with proposed solutions, instead of making excuses and ignoring science.

Conservatives who think they are making Al Gore look like a hypocrite by wondering how many times he has flown in a week seem to overlook their faulty logic and belief that global warming is not man-made. So to use the implication that Gore is contributing to man-made global warming by flying is admitting Global warming does exist and is man-made. They are using an argument that something exists to prove that it doesn't exist; no wonder conservatives offer no solutions;

Thanks. That was an excellent example of faulty logic there. Al Gore does look like a hypocrite, and it has nothing to do with whether global warming is or isn't man-made. It has to do with him not believing the stuff that comes out of his own mouth.

Example: I claim with certainty that the world will end in 6 months. Then I buy a house and orchard with a 20 year mortgage and plant 100 cherry trees. If somebody points out the contradiction in my actions, that does not mean that person now believes the world will end. It means I am talking rubbish and, worse, that I know I'm talking rubbish.

Why I should I make the least effort to combat "global warming" when the leaders of the movement apparently don't believe it themselves?

So you're taking some rhetorical question asked about Al Gore in this forum that you don't even know the answer to and using that as proof that most global warming movement leaders don't believe in global warming? And because of that, you don't think you should make the slightest effort to combat global warming? Are you high or something?

No, the problem is that liberals think their experimental, crushing debt-laden policies are going to affect the natural, changing climate of the world one iota's worth. The truth is, at some point the sun is going to warm, or the sun is going to cool. If you want to combat global warming or global cooling, you are better off buying everyone a coat and a tee-shirt. That would have more of an impact than any of the oppressive policies that liberals want to shove down our throats ( that also coincidently make a good portion of the liberal upper crust billionaires at the same time) .

I do believe there are both liberals and conservatives that want to take steps to ensure they leave the world a better place than when they arrived, and that's great. Work on that problem locally. The problem is, these good hearted people throw their support behind politicians that have their self-interest in mind rather than actually serving the interests of the planet. 'Global Warming' or now 'Climate Change' is a shout out designed to draw the caring into believing that assigning unprecedented wealth and power to liberal policies is actually going to benefit the world.

Do you just make this stuff up?

If your vet tells you your dog has a health issue, do you believe him and address the problem? Or do you think it's a liberal conspiracy to give liberals unprecedented power and wealth?

When Stephen Hawking says climate change is one of the greatest threats posed to the future of human-kind and the world, and 255 scientists from the US National Academy of sciences put it in writing, and a very high majority of climatologists believe it, I think I believe them over someone like senators Cruz and Imhoef who can barely spell climate let alone be qualified to announce it's not real.

Super scientist Michio Kaku stated that โ€œyou have to hunt very carefully for any kind of skepticโ€ฆ most of the skeptics, just like myself, have changed their opinion and now realize it's a real, tangible effect.โ€

So who are you getting your info from?

I'm amused that someone can call Senator Cruz stupid ...

("Cruz attended Harvard Law School, graduating magna cum laude in 1995 with a Juris Doctor degree. Cruz was a primary editor of the Harvard Law Review, and executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, and a founding editor of the Harvard Latino Law Review. Referring to Cruz's time as a student at Harvard Law, Professor Alan Dershowitz said, "Cruz was off-the-charts brilliant."At Harvard Law, Cruz was a John M. Olin Fellow in Law and Economics.)

...and then in the very next sentence refer to a "super scientist." What is that, some scientific title conferred by Marvel Comics?

My apologies to Senator Cruz, who indeed is a smart guy. The example was supposed to have been Governor Rick Perry, who is on record as being an idiot about many things, including climate change.

I agree with you on Rick Perry. I still find it silly to worry about what climate change will (or won't) do to us in 100 years. There are plenty of more pressing environmental issues coming up on us much sooner that are being relatively ignored. Maybe because no smart fella like Al Gore has figured out how to profit from addressing them yet?

Like an election, it's hard to spread the word without some funds to spend on it. Some may think Gore's whole agenda was to make money, but I think they are overlooking the obvious. Whatever is thought about Gore, his efforts pretty much made Global Warming an overnight talking point, and that's the way a movement starts. Perhaps the other important environmental issues you speak of could benefit from such an approach. Personally, I think many issues are linked. For example, I read this morning that the Polar Bear population has diminished by 40% in the last 10 years. I'm guessing that's because many of them can no longer hunt the way they did before (with the poor ice conditions), and many are drowning because the ice they used to swim to no longer exists. They are now considered a threatened species and not expected to make it to the end of the century. It's a very sad situation, but most people could care less because they see no direct impact to themselves . . . which is the same thing that's happening with global warming, like a frog being boiled alive and not knowing it until it's too late.

If my vet tells me my dog is sick, and in order to heal the dog I will need to donate a trillion dollars to a progressive foundation that will pay for his veterinary training bills and future salary, I would get a new vet.
