So they have actual polls, asking the people what they think but they can't be right.........

Because I continue to insist... the majority of people are against it

hahaha, I continue to insist

I guess the main issue are taxes and other laws that are different for people that are married. Besides that who cares what other people do? I do not really understand it.

I don't understand what you mean, but tell me something. If a State asks the people to give their vote on whatever and then some Liberal judge says NO, what is your opinion? If you say the Judge is right, then why the hell are people asked to vote?

You would feel the same way if a conservative judge did the same thing, right? For example if a majority of voters voted in favor of abortion or legalized pot, but a court overrules the election results, you would feel the same outrage, right?

Absolutely. Even if I don't like it I'll accept a majority vote by the people. As an example: even though I don't think legalizing pot is a very good idea for recreational purposes, I have no problem that Colorado and Washington State voted for it. The people's vote is what should count, not one judge's decision, regardless of weather he is Conservative or Liberal.

Besides, correct me if I'm wrong but judges in the US are not voted into their positions by the people, are they?

Found some more stats:

61% of young Republicans favor same-sex marriage

Yet, the preacher doesn't realize this and wants to run off and start a new party. The new generations coming up have more access to information, not controlled by fear like earlier generations. Not scared of Becky marrying Ann. Good to see, go young Republicans.

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2014/03/10/61-of-young-republicans-favor-same-sex-marriage/

Since Gilsan accepts the majority:

"majorities of fans across Europe and North America would support an openly gay player on their national teams. Sweden and Denmark, with 79 percent support, led the way, with British (73 percent), Portuguese (68 percent), and Italian fans (68 percent) not far behind."

Are you still blabbering away about gays? You sound just like the American MSM that constantly tries to brainwash people to accept the gay agenda by talking about gays all the time. On top of it you have to put LARGE letters so everyone notices. What are you a gay? You must be by the way you constantly talk about them. Don't you like women? Are you married to another guy? I don't give a shit about your gay position and your stupid polls. Don't you have anything better to do than come here and try to convince everyone that your way is the only way?

And then to you, only the young people thoughts is what counts. The rest of the population doesn't count. And you call yourself progressive. What a fuc$ing joke. If you were a leader you would probably kill everyone who didn't think like you. What a waste of time and energy to answer to an stupid idiot like you.

Carry on blabbering about your gays, because that's about all your'e good at.

I put it in large lettering to help you read. Young Republicans coming thru, moving the old guard out. The majority of your own country are now cool with it.

You never explained your anger, where does it come from? Did something happen back in the day? Is this something you were taught? Not once have you explained your personal issue with it.

You keep posting stuff that doesn't align with reality:
"The rest of the population doesn't count."

Big lettering for you:

The majority of your country are ok with gay marriage. It's legal in your country.

And I told you many times before why I'm for it. Goes back to your memory. Once more. It's the rights issue of this generation. If I lived back when women were fighting for their rights, they would have my support. Civil Rights have my support. People wanting to get married, I could care less if they're gay, have my support. And for bonus, it gets a lot of backwards types upset to the point of crying and throwing a fit like a little child talking about leaving the party.

So it's good to see Young Republicans, stronger and not so backwards. It's good for the Republican Party. It's really the only chance they ever have of winning a general election. To get with the rest of the country on those social issues. And push you fear mongering, scared of marriage types to the curb.

This is what you're scared of. The horror.

All federal judges are appointed, but states can be elected or appointed. In Alaska this November, we will vote on nine state judges ranging from state supreme court to district court. it's kind of a strange thing to vote on a judge. I have to rely on recommendations from friends in the know and the Alaska Judicial Council. Elected Vs. appointed is a hot topic. Good and bad in both.

Moderator, could you please show me how to block someone that makes me vomit every time I see his face? I believe it could be done before, but I don't see how it's done now... if it's possible

I once dreamed of living in USA and then i grew up and developed a mind, eg healthcare, guns, human rights such as use of solitary confinement in prisons to name a few.

Almost half of Scotland dreams of getting away from your country. Don't treat them so well.

Just wondering what people here thought of physician assisted dying (suicide)?

Remember watching the documentary How To Die In Oregon about it.

Saw this story today -
Woman with cancer plans to take her life in Oregon

http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/woman-with-cancer-plans-to-take-her-life-in-oregon/ar-BB8cLxl

Only legal in 4 states.

If you're terminally ill, in unbearable pain that never goes away etc, why not have an option for people to take, so they don't have to resort to doing it themselves, which just makes it harder on everybody. It's interesting how some people are opposed, when this is yet another issue that has absolutely nothing to do with them.

I agree there should be a choice; unfortunately, like everything else, it has the potential of major abuse on several fronts. There are several scenarios I can imagine that would be anything from criminal to tragic.

Pot is a substance, so it has no human rights.

The equal (human) rights question is... Who voted on whom you married?

There has never been a vote on (y)our right to marry women. We just assumed it as a 'human right'. Like the right to remain single. If we choose. How can you justify denying other humans anything less?

The conservatives on the court are supreme cowards for avoiding the issue, and putting it into the States hands. They know that Justice should be blind in ones pursuit of happiness. But they don't like what (marriage) justice would look like, so they looked the other way... to buy more time for their personal and religious "values" to rule the land.

Can you imagine being married in one state, but not the next... because political conservatives say so?

In California, the home of Palimony, we could outlaw marriage all together in favor of being 'Pals'.

A conservative State, like Utah, could make marriage mandatory... in accordance with the will of the majority.

And, why stop at the State level, why not govern marriage at the county level, or even at city level... where you get your marriage license?

I've never been married, (though I have, and raised, several children), because I don't think government should govern who you marry.

Be it birth control, or marriage, this conservative court is making rulings reminicent of massa governing slaves on its plantation.

But, considering Alabama did not remove the plantation era law banning inter-racial marriage from the books until the year 2000, I'm not really that surprised.

Absolutely. Even if I don't like it I'll accept a majority vote by the people. As an example: even though I don't think legalizing pot is a very good idea for recreational purposes, I have no problem that Colorado and Washington State voted for it. it seems that incumbency has it's privileges in Alaska. First, the official 191 page voter's booklet put out by the incumbent party forgot to include the main opposition candidate to the incumbent Governor. Now it appears the incumbent party got a little extra space in the booklet. At the back of the booklet, the Libertarians, Republicans and Democrats each got a page to inform the public what their party stood for. All three parties did so; however, the Republican party somehow got an extra page that they used for an attack ad against Senator Mark Begich, a Democrat. The thing I find interesting is that on this extra page that no other party got, an attack ad was chosen to run instead of an ad supporting the Republican candidate. Just goes to show how powerful negative ads are in the scheme of things.
