You have a mum. Mine died when I was young. My father offered zero support. I went to university on my own, and paid for it on my own. It wasn't easy, but I don't recall ever asking for sympathy or making excuses.

Sure, I would have been delighted if the state had picked up the tab. But that doesn't exactly encourage initiative. More importantly though is that a state that generously spends the taxpayers' money will eventually bankrupt future generations. You are of the age that will witness this first hand, so I won't be too hard on you now.
