Watching Lindsey Graham in Afghanistan, Trump still hasn't visited any of the troops.

Remember Mattis is a career govt employee, through the ranks, served his country, a respected general in a huge war machine, that he has been in and now by leaving it's a loss of job security. No govt employee wants to lose their job,.

You know that's not how it works right? If we have no war, that doesn't mean people lose jobs. He'll just hang out at the Officer's Club more. Most people in the military aren't actually in combat zones. So that doesn't fly, they only want war for job security.

They always do get paid, and like other broke Americans probably dont even have $400. in the bank for an emergency.

Sure there are some who are competent, like 5-10% of them. Remember I spent 20 years dealing with them myself in person, on the phone, on the ground in their bases, management offices, plants, surveillance overseers, etc. Most couldn’t get hired to work in private industry.

But the 90-95% Publically subsidized swamp creatures cannot be fired, and quite a few are unable to be independently employed like you or I were.

Would you hire them? Your best contacts? Probably not, as they are overpaid, better healthcare, secure, and non risk takers. They might be your best customers which is fine to defend them out of self interest. I have published work too in DOD, btw. I even made a living dealing in recycling Gov’t waste.

You may have worked with a difficult subsection of “them” but you didn’t work with the people I know.

They are not “broke Americans.” But it doesn’t matter - they won’t get paid on time and that’s still an issue. Even if you have the money elsewhere it’s a hassle to shuffle funds around and can take a couple of business days for transfers to go through.

Also affects productivity - they and their coworkers are all spending today making necessary preparations for a shutdown of their department instead of doing their normal work.

If you worked for someone, would you be OK with finding out your paycheck was going to be late and not even knowing when to expect it? I doubt it.

If you worked for someone, would you be OK with finding out your paycheck was going to be late and not even knowing when to expect it? I doubt it.

As a business owner, here was one situation of so many, I shipped $xx,xxx. of stuff outside US on govt contract, net 30 days. My inventory and costs with low margin. It arrived, end user customer really happy on follow up, then leaves on rotation to US for Christmas, but forgot po and did not sign off.

January, I called back over 50 times, many $1 a minute calls at the time, yes no exagerration nobody would sign off, since they didnt order it , so called everywhere various departments in the US until June next year on that side trying to get paid, just finger pointing and nobody would do anything to help. Took 6 months, and of course they don’t pay interest. Vice versa and I am late with prepaid estimated taxes, get penalties.

Tough, sorry but zero sympathy for bureaucrats.
