We’ve been over why victims don’t come forward in this thread and on every social media site. Read and educate yourself a little.

TL;DR - part of it is because of people giving victims precisely the kind of crap you, Gil and Mr x are handing out.

Death threats. People are threatening her and her kids over this. Because she dared to publically come out and say “wait a minute - this guy you’re questioning, who could potentially be deciding the laws of our country once TRIED TO RAPE ME.”

She started “speaking up” years before the SCOTUS” nominations.

If her account is true, Kavanaugh committed an offense for which he would have been tried as an adult and put on sex offender lists if convicted. Not exactly a poster child for deciding the highest level legal issues in the nation.

As for her being an “anti trump liberal” - that describes about half the country and in this case it’s totally irrelevant. If they vote Kavanaugh down, he remains a federal judge, they pick the next conservative candidate on the list and repeat. The only thing this accomplishes is potentially keeping a would be rapist off the highest court in the land.

You’ll get your conservative judge, but maybe this one is wrong for the job.

You are so wrong it is hard to know where to start. First, like a typically left wing liberal youtake the elitist approach and assume I am unread. Maybe if you guys stopped making ignorant assumptions like that you would stop losing elections.

Second, you think the republicans would ever get a conservative into the Supreme Court if the dems take the house back you are incorrect. This whole issue is not about sexual harassment, it is about denying the will of the people because the dem liberal minority are elitists who think democracy should take a back seat to their agenda. I have the deepest respect for women who have been victimized but she ain’t one of them.

I honestly was leaning more towards the fourth view that I posted, that she had reasons to not talk about it before, and now she thinks it's important to do so. I suppose the first one was supposed to be how some republicans seem to be viewing that perspective.

And the second one was the one which I thought a few people here were subscribing to, which they confirmed. I tried to make it sound a bit absurd, like "this professor comes out of nowhere and has therapist's notes about an attempted rape..but she's just making it up," but it's not absurd to some people so..my bad.

My mother is Mormon, and you can find old quotes of Mormon leaders saying or writing disturbing things akin to "your virtue / chastity is more valuable than your life" and using strange euphemisms for rape, like "nonconsensual immorality." They recently excommunicated a guy for protesting too much about what he believes were important problems regarding sexual things in the organization. She's probably had stupid shit drilled into her head throughout her life. So we talked about this other day, and she was doubting the accuser a bit and saying some victim-blaming stuff I was trying to play the other side of the argument to make her see how she could be wrong.

I don't know what's true in this situation even though I have my opinion, so I maybe I will shut my piehole now and wait and see what happens.

I’m not saying he’s unquestionably guilty, though for me what we’ve seen SO FAR make me lean in that direction. Friend of a friend knows her and vouches for her character and apparent lack of ulterior motive. She wouldn’t want to see him appointed to the Supreme Court if he was a liberal democrat. That’s not the issue.

You keep pretending we don't know anything about Kavanaugh despite decades sitting on the bench, statements by the women who worked with him or for him. There have literally been over a 100 people that KNOW Kavanaugh vouch for his character.

At the same time, we're supposed to believe CB Ford who we know almost nothing about. Her story has evolved / changed at least twice. No one who knows Ford is stepping up talking about what a great and fair person she is. Not her students, not her co-workers.

You want us to ignore what we know about Kavanaugh, and disbelieve him, Then ignore what we know about CB Ford, ignore the witnesses and believe her anyway.

You make ZERO sense.
