I'm not the one who can't read a chart... What date was the high point on this YTD chart?

High was Jan 26. I grabbed this because it was in was handy, but other indexes show a similar pattern. S&P made a faster and bigger recovery from that correction.

I've probably been investing longer than you have.

So you post a pic of the nasdaq composite LOL? Heavily weighted towards tech stocks - looks like the tech market is doing well.

In any case, once again you showed your weakness in reading comprehension by seizing on the minutiae and completely missing the point of the post. Which was that most people don’t have an investment account so for them it’s at all just pretty numbers on paper. If their income doesn’t keep pace with the cost of living, they are experiencing economic pain, regardless. And wages are down.

Then most people shouldn't talk shit about the market being down when it's not.

I'll go through it for you again; If you go back 12 months, the DJIA is actually up. It's down from the high in Feb but there are still 4.5 months in 2018.

If you look at the chart for the DJIA I posted, it gives you the yearly ( 12 months ) and monthly gain. I've explained this multiple times to you and @JB Lions. I don't know how it can be any clearer, It's printed on the fricking chart.

Not only are the DJIA, S&P 500 and NASDAQ all up, the economy is up. Interest rates have gone up, which is normal. Lots of numbers go into calculating real wage earnings, including seasonal hour increases / decreases.

Overall, a 0.1 decrease for hourly workers.
