Last year there were 80+ LLLL domains that sold for over $$,$$$.
Some of these are obvious, but others are not...

You'll see a big difference in sales in the LLLL .com market. And it all boils down to finding end-users. For example, if you owned GQZX it might not get past the high XX range easily. But if you find a company that has GQZX as their acronym, it might be worth a ton to them. Alternatively, a TV show could pop up as "Great Queen's Zoology Xreme" (bad example, yes :P), and you'll find yourself with a valuable acronym. It's a bit of timing, luck, and marketing.

Problem is people are looking for a quick flip and 95% of the time sell their LLLL to another domainer. If you hold your names long enough or are proactive in finding an end user you can sell your name at an elevated price.

The thing is there are over 456,000 LLLL.com names. This (even with the unreported sales) is really a small fraction.

Oh my, the buyer of daum.com got a killer deal at $50,000! Daum is one of the biggest brands in Korea. They use daum.net (Alexa 151). It looks like the company Daum did not buy the domain. There is going to be a ton of typo traffic although I don't know how much the buyer (Chinese) can really benefit from it. Maybe it was a defensive buy or they have plans to sell to daum.com later on.
