.Tel is far from dead. I dont know what you earn by saying so.
On some investigation quite the oposite seems true.
More and more .tel pages are populated.
Lets do some thinking.
There were around 250.000+ pages registered at peak. Lets say this might have fallen somewhat. But what has happened?
At first many domainers registered a lot of .tel domains. Lets say for example 1000 person registered 100 .tels each. Now That would be 100.000.
That means the number of real .tel users are quite low.
And the bulk of the domains where empty because the domainers did not have time to fill these with good information.
What seems to have happened is that domainers have dropped many domains but avarage Joe/small company has started to register .tels for himself.
So the number of users has increased while the number of domains kept by domainers has decreased.
.Tel has time on its side since its continuing to get known and get added value.
They are working on adding open OAuth and OpenID to work with .tel.
This mean among other things you will be able to update you .tel via sms.
