For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Go back and look again, and I believe it states end of March for delivery right ?

So why do you need a domain now? Makes it sound like you think there will never be delivery or changes made. Not understanding your post.

The current design is a juiced up online business card.

The new design seems to be going for the crappy social networking feel (the only thing missing is a friends list.). If there were social networking sites in 1997, this is very similar to what they would have looked like.

That being said, I think this is a step in the right direction. At this rate it's going to be years before their profile pages can make the masses happy though. With that comes the risk of existing services (and startups) getting their own TLD from ICANN when that becomes available and overshadowing .tel before anyone takes notice of it.

Vcard is good but it would be really kewl if the vcard could be the display that was seen in a persons friends list.
Add friend then get vcard.... has the display picture, the link to the social net page and any info to share .. now then it would be killer.

I like the uniform interface that I need not to think over and it will collect all kinds of great ideas.

The new look for your .tel page is very nice ,but the better things is to add the opitions to select the DNS so that we can build website in our own ways.

surfing to a .com domain has a weighted risc of about 33%!

Since users are not allowed to have their own javascript flash etc on a .tel, it makes .tel the safest and domain to browse of all domains.


Another reason is that it would ruin what makes .tel unique, the fact that people know what they get when they go to a .tel.

This is a huge advantage when surfing from a cellphone.

You can get another domain from what is it 200-300+ endings if you want to have your own site on it.

Just thought this might be of interest:

I was just in Vancouver for some of the Olympics (curling!), and we parked at one point in a downtown parking garage. Inside the parking garage was a 6 x 2 ft billboard-style ad saying "What's your .TEL?" with a few selling points surrounding it and a very prominent .TEL logo...

Surprising to see it in a place like that!

It has 1,500,000 broad searches according to Google KeywordTool.
I think it is good result?
