Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Advertising within .tel: Works now.

Advertising within .tel: Works now.

Examples:
Hotele w Polsce
tans.tel
condos.tel
adfly.tel
2tweet.tel
joomlacms.tel

How it works:

Basically, the structure of your add looks like this:

* Position/Location of your add (top, right, below)
* Sort Sequence
* Title (max. 255 characters for the title within the add)
* Label (Is used as linktext for the linking, and will be used as last line within the add)
* Link (Link leading to the adverted product)
* Text Content

Dear Friend,
Thank you, for your comment and question.

It is about placing ads on the TelProxy.

You can choose, where you would like to put your ads: top, right, below.

Display Preference:
1 for top of the page
2 for right of the page
3 for foot of the page

You want your ad to look like this:

Plumber
24 Hour Fast Response Plumbers
10% Book Online Discount Today!
Plumbers | Heating Engineers | Locksmiths | 24 hr Emergency Plumbers | ReactFast /Plumbers

Again:
You have do some coding (read manual), and code your ad content in this way:

* Position, Location and Sort Sequence (IN TXT ".tad" "1" "1" "51")

* Title ("Plumber")

* Label (Is used as linktext for the linking, and will be used as last line within the add: "Plumbers | Plumbing Service | Fast Response Plumbers | Plumbers Available 24 hours, 365 days.")

* Link (Link leading to the adverted product: "uri" "http://www.reactfast.co.uk" "uri" "=243423543&z=42342343")

* Text Content ("desc" "24 Hour Fast Response Plumbers" "desc" "10% Book Online Discount Today !")

And if you do it right, your ad will apear, with title, websit link, and text, at your favored position.

Edit:

Display Preference:
1 for top of the page
2 for right of the page
3 for foot of the page

You want your ad to look like this:

Plumber
24 Hour Fast Response Plumbers
10% Book Online Discount Today!
Plumbers | Heating Engineers | Locksmiths | 24 hr Emergency Plumbers | ReactFast /Plumbers

Layout coding, for advertisment on top of the page:

IN TXT ".tad" "1" "1" "51"
"Plumber"
"www.ReactFast.co.uk/Plumbers"
"uri" "http://www.reactfast.co.uk" "uri" "=243423543&z=42342343"
"desc" "24 Hour Fast Response Plumbers" "desc" "10% Book Online Discount Today !"

You have to frst store/add the advertisment records first, before you create the ad folder.
Use owner parameter.

Advertisment TXT records are created and modified via the "storeRecords SOAP command"

Advertisment Record.

<typ:storeRecordRequest domainName=" stead.te">
<typ:txt profiles="_all_" owner="_ad">
<typ:text>.tad</typ:text>
<typ:text>1</typ:text>
<typ:text>1</typ:text>
<typ:text>100</typ:text>
<typ:text>Title of the ad</typ:text>
<typ:text>lable of the ad</typ:text>
<typ:text>uri</typ:text>
<typ:text>The new way to communicate</typ:text>
<typ:text>desc</typ:text>
<typ:text>sample description</typ:text>
</typ:txt>
</typ:storeRecordRequest>

Advertisment TXT Records are created and modified via the "StoreRecords SOAP Command".

This is how a Advertisment Record looks like:

<typ:storeRecordRequest domainName="stead.tel">
<typ:txt profiles="_all_" owner="_ad">
<typ:text>.tad</typ:text>
<typ:text>1</typ:text>
<typ:text>1</typ:text>
<typ:text>100</typ:text>
<typ:text>Title of the ad</typ:text>
<typ:text>lable of the ad</typ:text>
<typ:text>uri</typ:text>
<typ:text>http://www.telnic.org</typ:text>
<typ:text>desc</typ:text>
<typ:text>sample description</typ:text>
</typ:txt>
</typ:storeRecordRequest>
.
1.) Ad the Advertisment Records (text records), by using the Owner Parameter (owner="_ad"):
<typ:txt profiles="_all_" owner="_ad">
<typ:text>1</typ:text>
<typ:text>1</typ:text>
<typ:text>100</typ:text>
<typ:text>Title of the ad</typ:text>
<typ:text>lable of the ad</typ:text>
<typ:text>uri</typ:text>
<typ:text>http://www.telnic.org</typ:text>
<typ:text>desc</typ:text>
<typ:text>sample description</typ:text>

2.) Create a Sub-Domain_ad Folder (to store sub-type TXT records (defined by .tad)):
<typ:text>.tad</typ:text>

3.) Store the Advertisment Records in the Sub-Domain_ad Folder:
</typ:storeRecordRequest>

4.) Created and modifie the Advertisment Records via the "StoreRecords SOAP Command":
<typ:text></typ:text>
.

If I knew, how to do the coding for creating text adverts, I could explain it to you, and so, that you would probaby be able to follow, and understand.

But I don't know more, than you either.

The instructions are too abstract, and neiter show you, how to proceed step by step, nor are they clear: The manual is confusing. The white paper (four pages) is better than the manual. The manual quasi just has another example, how to create a text advertisment structure.

All in all, the instructions are a bit confusing, and seem to be written for developers, who are already familiar with SOAP commands and storing records.

Not much help, for a newbie...

I am sorry, that I am not able to be of more use; I ony translated the white paper, how I was able to understand it.

Thanks, for showing the pictures of the TelProxy with advertisments: I did show such .tel domains a few posts before this one,

Regretably, these pictures won't help us any further either.

As here already stated: A video tutorial, would be best.

Cheers

good gobbly, those ads with yellow fields are ugly! they totally violate dot tel's minimalist concept, shriek 'look at me' to the viewer and just basically mar the page like big ol' ugly strip mines on a west virginia holler. if telnic is going to go that route, appending ill-fitting patchwork 'fixes' here and there as it goes along, seems to me it risks morphing into something unrecognizable and that offends the original brave and admirable concept.

no matter what the naysayers said about the look and conformity of the .tel page, there was a purity to it. I admired the underlying faith its creators had that they could create something radical and minimalist and that its utility and worth would be apparent to the masses and make it successful. i understand the desire to address the demand for a conventional way of monetizing tels, but i think it was essential that the solution fit in with the original design and concept. the understated ads on the right side of the page come very close, but those yellow blocks should go. and i'm not sure i even like the idea of interspersing the ads with the content like that.

i'm starting to fear what this work-in-progress will become before it's finished. i'm tempted to say 'wake me when it's done,' but i'm not sure i want to see the finished result.

I think it's easy just add that code but your registrar need to have the SOAP command (form) available. So some can do it and some can't, this is how I see, I might be wrong. So we need a list of registrar who provides Soap commands.
I think domainmonster.com have it. So will have to transfer to it all my .tel.

Problems with the Telnic manuals and white papers

.
.
There is a problem:

1.) Telnic addresses its intructions papers and manuals only to developers.

2.) Not even all developers can follow and understand those guides.

3.) Generally, all such guides appear to be insufficent, uncompleat and confusing.

4.) Up and till now, the Telnic providing of their system, was never ready, in time, to enable working, with what they have officially announced, that should be usable.

Example:
"Integrating your .tel into your existing website", respectively, the ".tel Contact Us" page, did not work, with the DNA variant:
Because
PHP: dns_get_record - Manual
Net_DNS
do not understand the LOC Record and have problems with the TXT records.
And so, a few members of the .tel community have created two options (PHP and JavaScript), which do work.

Example:
This company with online presence, was able to set up its ".Tel Contact Us Page" in their existing website. They are using a version with PHP, where there is a Google map, but which is not active. And this is the very best, one can achieve and get. And indeed, nevertheless, it looks nice, and serves the purpose:
Cakeinabox - Wedding Cakes Birthday Cakes Celebration Cakes Glasgow Cake Makers
But this is not what Telnic whanted users to achieve, and what they had anounced. They had anounced sometining else:
Integrate a .Tel Domain Into Your Existing Website
And it simply does not work that way, and it is, honestly, a shame.
Because it should of been a variant/solution with a Google map that is active, and that one can navigate. It simply did not work.

I wish Telnic would only announce a new feature or developing tool, etc, when it works 100%, and when there is a good manual, and good white papers, that every one, or users with limited developer skills, can understand and use, as well.

Otherwhise, this will always lead and result into confusions and frustrations, and unappy users of the dot tel domain.

I am asking for change, for the better. Please make some more effort, Telnic, in that field, sector.

It is a real big problem, that has to be solved, and that we do not want that it continues in this way.

There are not only so called developers, that would like to set up their advertisments within their .tel domain, and on their own, without the costly help from a developer, IT specialist, programmer, etc.

It is a unpleasant situation, which has to be solved in the very near future.

We now have a similar situation and problem, with users, trying to set up their advertisments within their TelProxy (top, right or footer position), and most of them are struggling, and get nowhere, and are more or less wasting their precious time.

Thank you, Telnic, for your understanding.

The best .tel tutorial, that exists, is this one, and I am sure, that it will soon include some of the tricky features:
.tel Domains Tutorial: Learn how to setup and manage your .tel domain

Please take a example of this good example.
