Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

This thread sure emptied out all of a sudden...

Kari.tel is at 300 euros on sedo (not mine). Looks like it was bought after landrush during GA. If it ends at 300, seems like a descent ROI for seller. Anyone else attempt to sell first name .tels?

I can only speak for myself, but I feel as though I (for now) have said everything I had to say. If I think of something else (e.g., new angle), I'll post more here again.

Meanwhile, less talk and more action.

;)

Right now, I'm busy working on my sales page and getting my .tels populated with more than just basic info. Soon I'll be dusting off my Sedo account, and submitting some of my .tels there.

I AM amazed at how many good (and not-so-good) keywords are gone. For a non-monetizing TLD, it seems like a lot of .tel domains are being snapped up quietly and quickly.

???

I'm also surprised at how many domains are still "PendingCreate." According to terms of service, domains need to be activated, so I would hope that all would do it soon. I'm not sure how long Telsters have to activate their domains, though I'm sure it's buried somewhere in the .tel TOS.

The telhosting panel gets faster every day, and it's very intuitive. Also, it seems that changes to domains activate almost immediately. I like the way you can copy links and keyword modules to other .tel domains and subdomains within the same telhosting account. That is SUCH a time saver.

One change I'd like to see: I would like to be able to move keyword modules up and down (like you can with the link modules). That would be awesome and open up a few more possibilities for .tel (such as short, pithy narrative ads, ordered the way the owner wants them?).

No Telsters...... Just Echoes.....

Echoes of the .Tel
"The New TLD"

Either the late bloomers are setting up/or trying to sell their .TEL's or all faith has been lost in this extension.

Personally, I'm still O.K. with .TEL, especially since I'm primarily interested in Flipping these type of domains. But, I have sort of turned my attention back to .COMs and developing my other websites. At least until a viable auction becomes available to sell this domains. I would imagine this is what a lot of folks are doing; have done!

This thread fills like you're in the Grand Canyon, listening to the Echo of your voice....

Hey (echoe: hey...hey...hey...hey....) Anyone out there! (echoe: out there...out there... out there... out there... out there...)

Alrightee then...... Back to work!

PS: Have you tried contacting any end users yet?

Thanks,
Dave

Heck, GA is not even open for one month yet. Early in the game.

Hi all

Just a quick question

I am trying to copy all my folders and info from one .tel domain to 3 others .tel names (all at Dynadot)

I thought I could select "ALL" under Contact Information and then select "Copy To" and then I would be given the option to select other names. All I am getting is the red bar at the top saying "No Records Selected"

Can you please tell me how I select all the folders and copy them to my other .tel names so I dont have to do it manually

Thanks in advance

Is Myspace directly selling .tel right now or at least promoting it?

Anybody going to contact Myspace and find out what's happening?

Telnic and myspace are currently ensuring that their registrar's registration platform is easy to buy from for myspace customers.. because they are dealing with so many potential buyers, they want to ensure that the 'average jo' can easily register and use the domains... remember most myspace members may not own a domain name at all so it has to run super smooth to ensure a smooth delivery of service. Hope this helps.

Did anybody finaly transfer telhosting account when transfering dot tel domain to a new account at Name.com?
When you transfer domain name within same registrar "Name.com" it does correctly but new owner don't have access to telhosting only the previous owner, it's like it is linked to other dot tel. I've contact telnic and they said to ask name.com to open new telhosting account for new domain account. I did contact them but no answer. So how long should we wait until when we transfer a dot tel, it transfert the telhosting account for this domain too? Any success?

Hi, I emailed about this too.

They said:

Unfortunately at this time, we do not have the ability to change
telhosting accounts, however we are working on giving customers the
ability to do this, and hope to have this enabled within the next week
from within your name.com account.

This was sent on the 13th.

...You seem to have a disdain for people who can code their own sites and actually make things happen. Why?
I don't have an issue with people who can code their own sites and "make things happen". Although you don't have to code your own sites to "make things happen". I know many people who don't know one line of code, yet still manage to make A LOT happen.

I am a fully capable developer with more than enough experience writing code and creating applications. I have been writing software for many years now and as a developer, I can see the massive potential of dot-tel.

Where I have a problem is with people bashing other people's efforts because their skillset does not line up technologically with others. There are MANY people out there who do not know coding but are still fully capable of contributing to dot-tel development.

Non-technical end-users tend to use technology in ways that technical types tend to miss or overlook. I value their input since it is their usage that I am creating software for and if it suits their needs, the product will be more successful.

As was previously stated, "development" means many things. Even in your club joke example, you still used the word "developer" in your title, you just tried to belittle it with the addition of "dot-tel profile". If you don't think structuring a profile is "developing" then why use it in your example? The joke would have been funnier if you used "Dot-tel profile enterer", but this isn't a humor writing thread, so I'll stay on topic.

Dot-tel opens the possibility for non-coders to have an online presense without having to hire expensive web "developers".

For those of us who have coding skills, the possibilities are endless. For those who don't, they can still take advantage of dot-tel and also the products and services that other developers will create.

Dot-tel haters only have a handful of arguments anyway, and even those are losing steam, so it seems logical that the next level to stoop to is taking shots at people's skills.

Ultimately, sites and sales will determine who's right.

Do you think that .tel will survive in years to come or will just be another worthless extension that the company made to pump money out of us.

Boy, the euphoria sure has died down in this thread. No surprise there. It happens with every new extension when the reality sets in.

Innovation a must

In principal, .TEL is a breakthrough. But in order for this type of TLD to survive, Innovation is a must. Google has already made an API to rival this type of user ability (Google Latitude) allbeit not a TLD; just a software.

Just offering the end user the ability to brand their .tel front page template would be satisfying.

.Tel developers get busy!!!

Nothing has died down. Much of this is now discussed behind the scenes as we work toward common goals.

;)

There comes a time when it's time to act rather than just talk about it on a forum.

Besides, the yeas and nays has been pretty been covered here. And covered. And covered...

Meanwhile, .tel registrations seem to be increasing--very few good names left. To me, that speaks louder than anything, yea or nay.

Come to think of it, EVERYTHING is a bit slow at Namepros lately, probably having to do with Easter, spring, Tax Day (yesterday in the U.S.) for procrastinators, and the ending of the school year (for college domainers).

Ciao! (for now)

Due to we are just waiting for 60 days pass before start a fully trading of dot TEL. For me I just very happy to see any keywords in content bring my site up on the first page of Google.

IMO, tel is ideal for SEO and it is.

You can select "All" to copy (or however many links you want to move), but you can only move it to one domain (or subdomain) at a time.

From my end, the telhosting panel is getting faster every day, so this hasn't been a major problem.

Remember, though, you still have to activate the links on the target domains or subdomains. Just hit "all" and select "activate." You will know that they are inactive because when inactive the links will look faded out. Active links are bright and in color.

A slight problem: I have domains at three different registrars, so I have three different telhosting panels, therefore, I can't move files from one account to another. But I simply pop up a completed page from one account, print it out, and start populating one domain and then move files as needed to the domains in that account.

What I like about Domainmonster: once you "Go Configure" (which takes seconds to do), your domain is activated, so if you can't get to it right away, at least it's not a pendingCreate file. It does become an advertising platform for Domainmnster, so it's good to get to them ASAP. But at least you're in compliance.

One thing I have been doing: once I complete a site, I print it out, at least the main domain page. That way, I know what's done and what isn't done. It's easy to forget when you have a lot of these.

My prediction: in the future, access to the telhosting panel will be easy as signing into Twitter, Myspace, and Facebook. It will have to be if Telnic (and sponsoring registrars) want this TLD to take off and be embraced by the masses.

Telnic has a serious financial stake in this, so I believe they will make this happen.

Here is what I think, just look at namepros, this thread is on top 5 everyday since dot tel was anounced. Why because some smart domainers knows potential of a dot tel, it's not another tld like you've seen. I will say it's like a virtual business card, 800's number and contact info space.
All good dot tel are daily reg and within years to come it will become sought after.
Do you remember dot com and 800 vanity numbers at their early years? You might not as you were to young or not a domainer at this time. But I know many were skeptical or have no interest about these dot com and 800 vanity. Guess what, who are the TOP 10 domainers on earth that are successful now? Don't want to post names here but sure you heard of it.
Dot Tel is not a quick money scheme but long term investment.
I can see real estate companies, car dealers, .... all businesses and services getting dot tel in the next 2 or 3 years.
